One year ago, I had two Smart UPS, a 750VA fan-less and a 1500VA, with the fan always on, noisy enough. I wanted to replace the noisy one with a fan-less model: 750VA were not enough for my new PC, while the fan on the 1500VA was driving me crazy. Searching for more power with no fan, I read a techn...

A funny/sad fan poll:does ACP Smart UPS SUA 1000i have a fan

APC support cannot tell me if APC Smart UPS SUA100i has a fan inside: two questions, two different answers, both implicitly claiming the documentation on the APC web site as false... Can somebody here, with a hand on experience on this model of UPS, give me the right answer? • The fan, if present,...

I have 2 APC Smart-UPS: SUA 750i: 750VA deadly silent , no fan, no wine; I can't hear it at 2 feet. Audible only when on battery. SUA 1500i: 1500VA, fan always on 24/24 and 7/7 at a guestimate >30db/1m. If I remove all the load, the fan goes on. If I turn it out, the fan goes on. If I unplug the pow...

CPU 130W TDP: you need an heatsink (not the Intel one) Motherboard I love ASUS RAM Corsair will work CAS8@1066MHz (tested on my PC) G.Skill will probably work CAS6@1066MHz If you don't overclock, your processor uses memory at 1066MHz. Your temps look a little bit high. My setup is (was) really similar to your. I used same mobo and CPU. I used 12 GB of Corsair memory (1.5v instead of 1.65v of OCZ). I used XP-120 Ultra Extreme with Scythe Slipstream Medium@5v instead of HR-01+, but they are supposed to have the same performance, wi...

protellect: Q9450 with 8 Gb of DDR2 is the setup I had planned to buy: it’s a nice system. When I went to buy, I saw the new i7. An i7 system, all inclusive, costs from 10% to 20% more then the Core2 Quad system and the overall performance increment should be about the same. The TDP increment fro...

Hum, 6 sticks of RAM draw other power and warm up the case. The processor is the worst power consumer of the moment. The video card is hot. But it should be a powerful workstation I could use for some years. Making it quiet is supposed to be my hobby, but it can be a nightmare! If the PSU in the low...

Wibla:

Please, what is TRUE?

I have got a HD4870 that is dual-slot and vents hot air out of the case. You suggest that throwing away hot air is the more important thing in this setup, so I should keep my default heat sink.

Thanks.

Thanks.

xan_user: 130w is what Intel declares for all i7 processors (here the specs: http://download.intel.com/design/processor/datashts/320834.pdf). In SPRC preview, the entry level (2.66 MHz) is less power hungry then the top (3.2 MHz) which has the same declared TDP (http://www.silentpcreview.com/article...

I have used the other dampening material sold on that site: SILMA FK 25 to isolate sounds and reduce vibrations all around the case SILMA VS 320 to absorbe sound on the top of the case (it isolates too) SILMA PU 420 to absorbe sound on the low part of the case. You have to use FK 25 as a base on the...

You need to get the last release of ATI drivers from ATI site. After installation you will find some new ATI branded tabs in your monitor property dialog. On the OVERDRIVE (tm) tab you will find temps an clocks for the card. If you install the last ATI drive from the Microsoft site, instead, you loo...

Thanks dddp, I think what you say about an external exsausts vga cooler is true: better temps in case, better temps on CPU and, I suppose, better temps for PSU; I am sure this one means less noise. But I red about artic cooling silencer and it did non fit on 9800xt!

Hi, I am a newbee. I have the same trouble with my Enermax Noisetaker EG475AX(G) (active pfc at 230V AC). The only noises I can hear in my PC are the coil noise and fan noise from the PSU.
