Re: [250D vs Node 304] airflow in a small, quiet workstation

My main system is built around a 250D i7-4770S IGP which also has 65W TDP Seasonic 400FL Noctua NH-L9I with a Noctua NF-B9 as the CPU HSF an mSATA and a couple of SSDs slimline optical I think it's a good case. There's absolutely tons of space. The CPU is easy to cool. I've used a kind of clear viny...

Re: Computer is loud - I need to upgrade it

Why did you ask us for recommendations Calm down dear. The OP can't exactly go wrong with a Noctua and Abula did have one on his list. if you have a PWM (4 pin) motherboard you MUST use PWM (4 pin) That's just flat out not true. Most motherboards can do DC control using 3 pins whether the header is...

I'd still have a go at cable tying a 120mm fan into the PSU, you've got nothing to lose.

Re: Internet/Office/HD-Movie computer with low power consump

I've just built a media centre in a fusion black which is very similar to the nsk2400 you mentioned. They're great cases, loads of room and great airflow. Sack the tri-cools of course.

Re: Crucial m4 ssd vibration

Obviously it's not coming _from_ the ssd. Most likely it's being transmitted from elsewhere and perceived near the hd bays because of the cage.

Have you tried running it with the PSU unmounted? Perhaps laid on a surface nearby?

Re: 120[mm] Fan Choices[?]

OP: Are you looking for quiet fans or extreme cooling? Given that this is SPCR we'll likely favour fans that we can under-volt to near silence. In respect of your latest list: 1) The Cougar looks interesting although Compucase isn't renowned for quiet components. I'd be interested in seeing a side b...

Speedfan doesn't see mine, I use RivaTuner for the GPU and a desktop gadget that takes a feed from it.

I just got a HX450W as a replacement for my 2 year old Phantom 500. Right now it's the loudest component in my system which is rather disappointing. It is very smooth, my noise floor here is very low indeed and I am unusually sensitive to low frequency sounds such as fans, hard drives and coil hum. ...

what are the chances of using a different controller for the fans on the matrix? it would seem to me that if you could run them at a low voltage during idle you wouldn't get the on/off problem although given their size and character it might not be worth it.

that 'could' be a VRM but sometimes speedfan just finds sensors that it doesn't know the calibration for. personally i'd ignore it.

first step for me would be to go into the BIOS and make sure that cool'n'quiet and q-fan are enabled. ensure the cpu fan is connected to the right header on the MB.
