They're dirt cheap and there's nothing wrong with them for a vanilla PC, which is why they're so popular at Newegg. I don't recall that any of them support a 120mm exhaust fan, which is the basic starting point for a case that can be quiet. :( They aren't all "dirt cheap" and more of them than not ...

Rosewill cases

Do any of the Rosewill cases make a good foundation for a quiet PC? Rosewill makes some attractive cases and NewEgg carries many of the models.

No, my RAM isn't DDR2. I guess I'll pick up some DDR2. Ouch, another $300.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Advice Needed: New system - My quest to stop hearing loss

After years of noisy PC's running next to me on a desk, I am suffering hearing damage that will likely be a significant problem one day. In the past, several times, I've attempted to build a quiet PC, yet something always goes wrong and I end up with one or two noisy components that blow the whole p...

thanks, kogi.

Will I be able to run a passively cooled Asus 7600 in this configuration?

I am not a gamer, but I assume I need decent video for Vista.

vincent, can I OC the E4300 significantly without raising noise/heat significanlty?

Also, how do you like your system? Any changes that you would make? The components listed in your sig are almost exactly what I'm about to purchase, I think.

Which Core2Duo for quiet build?

I'm confused as to which Core2Duo would be optimal for a quiet, low heat build.

E4300
E6400
E6600

I'll be using a Ninja and I'm more than open to the idea of OC'ing; however, I do not want to OC if it will result in more noise/heat.

Is the E4300 the ultimate "quiet build" processor?

This morning the house was totally silent (except for my PC). I was home alone and had the central A/C turned off, so that wasn't a distraction. HOLY COW! You could hear this PSU from 30ft away in another room! It is humorous that anyone would use the word "silent" in the same sentence with this bea...

OMG! This thing sounds like a TORNADO! Today, I purchased the 300W Super Tornado after reading the reviews on this site. I was in the market for a quiet PSU...too bad I still am. This thing is horrible. It is extremely noisy. According to the sticker on the box, I have v.1.3 Which one should I get n...
