Re: Antec Mini P180 w/ Passive-Cooled HD6850
looking at the orochi in the case i'd say a back panel fan would be pretty restricted in its airflow. not optimal at all. if anything i might say grab one of those new thermalright or noctua 140mm fans and slap it on the orochi. Great idea. I mounted the supplied 140mm Orochi-fan. It runs at 400-50...

Re: Passive (Accelero S1 Rev. 2) Gigabyte Radeon HD6850
@goatsandmonkeys I have no idea really. Maybe it works. As of now the card peaks at 83°C, but mostly runs at 75°C, a bit high maybe, but no signs of trouble yet, so I think I will keep it fan-less. Maybe risky. My past HD3870 peaked at 75°C, and always worked great. @lemmy Sure. It's a great box. I ...

Re: Antec Mini P180 w/ Passive-Cooled HD6850
Nice work, 80 is perhaps a bit toasty but another fan in the back would lover the temps a bit perhaps? Thanks. Yes, a bit high... Sadly I can't fit another fan, the Orochi takes up to much room. I only got 10mm to play with, most fans are 25mm thick. http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/4715/imgp3614...

@Anatorax
Yes, that might be a good idea. Maybe a 500 rpm 120mm fan or something...
@flemeister
Some gaming in WoW at Ultra settings. Not FurMark, I know.

Passive (Accelero S1 Rev. 2) Gigabyte Radeon HD6850
It installed very easy. No problems. I even reused the thermal compound that was left on the 6850-GPU. http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/7396/imgp3615.jpg Idle temp up from 37°C (Old HD 3870) Right now I'm reading 41°C, load temp is around 80°C. Running the top 20cm fan in L-mode (only fan in system)...

Some pics. It installed very easy. No problems. I even reused some of the thermal compound that was left from the original 6850-sink. Idle temp up from 37°C (Old HD 3870) Right now I'm reading 41°C. With exactly the same air-flow, fan-speed and cooler (of course...) https://dl.dropbox.com/s/mqo6av30...

Re: Antec Mini P180 w/ Be-Quiet PSU, Scythe ...
Liking you build very simple, low tdp cpu, big heat sink and a massive slow fan, best way to make a silent pc imo. I have always had a soft spot for that case, but i got in to water cooling before I got in to silent pcs, so my desktop has a bigger case with a massive radiator, If i was doing a new ...

No I didn't. Back then I had the Celeron E1200, now replaced by a second hand E6750 (for less than a new E5500) http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/2522/dsc0466q.jpg Ahh, ok. Re: Re:
prime95 at 55 degrees at 2ghz, with no fan on the cpu, sounds very functional to me. I think so too, but I will replace it with a E5300, 45nm, should run cooler and faster, at a fair price aswell. I really hope you didn't do that, the E5300 is slower and no cooler than an E6750.. No I didn't. Back ...

Nice build! One question: did you somehow attach the giant heatsink to anything or is it only held by the thumbscrews & backplate? Since those things weigh close to 1kg I was always wondering if a vertical build would work at all. Thank you. :) Nope, the sink is only held by the thumbscrews & backp...

I was very happy to see that my SOLO had similar feet. makes a big difference I think. It is like my case is suspended Almost :) They use the same feet on the P18x series too. I've noticed the glue they use is not really good. They come off too easily. Be careful as you move it around or you'll not...

if all of the intakes are either blocked or filtered, dust should be controllable. 37 degrees at 12.5% load... load at true idle would be less, a percent or two, and so would the cpu temp. the acid test would be to run prime95 on it, and then experiment with fan speeds. I just ran prime95 for about...

Very clean and that white mini sure looks nice. Ever thought about yanking the hamster wheel and going fanless? Hehe, thanks. Sure, I could remove the top 20 cm fan and just use the 14 cm that came with the Orochi. But, I won't, as I don't find the "Big Boy" that noisy, plus it keeps my system cool.

Bad news: My heavily modded Tagan U15 has died with a bang. I haven't checked yet if it has taken anything else down with it (Mobo etc) I just switch the PC on one morning and heard abuzzing of increasing volume, until after 5-6 seconds it ended with a bang and the PC shut down immediately. Some sm...
