Actually, there appear to be 4 solid state capacitors around the CPU socket and another near the IDE connector...[/quote]From the photo above you can see that all the capacitors are of the standard variety — none of them are solid-state.

Thoughts: MB - from what I've read, the Gigabyte boards are killer. They use solid state capacitors, with improved ferrite core choke coils, Low RDS MOSFET's ... and generally run well - http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2118 and http://techreport.com/reviews/2007q2/gigabyte-n680sli/i...

The site appears to have been down this afternoon - try the "Reference / Recommended" articles again. Lots of good information. Yes, Antec cases are well thought of - especially if you don't want to do case mods. Consider the P180, P182 or Solo among others. There are many great examples of other ca...

I also have the Intel D865 PERL. Per Intel's PDF manual, page 80, Table 45 - the (Northbridge) MCH is rated for max temp of 99 degrees Centigrade and the ICH is 115 degrees Centigrade. It does note in parentheses that the temps listed as max are "(under bias)". You can Google for an explanation of t...

I have 2 Seagate 7200.10 - 320 GB purchased in September 2006. They work very well with little noise. Have you considered the one drive may be going bad? I haven't used it, but you might check out Spinrite 6 by Steve Gibson - at www.grc.com (Gibson Research Corp). Among other things, Spinrite can de...

You didn't say if you are installing it into a Lian-Li case... If not, the hard drive cage should fit - but the front grille might not. I currently have a Lian-Li 6077B case with a similar hard drive cage, except using an 80 mm fan (the EX-23). The EX-34 pics you reference show rubber grommets for a...

Intel Chipsets are ususally very good
I've built systems running Intel chipsets including the old 440BX, the 865PE and most recently the P965. They've all been very stable. Intel has a reputation for solid engineering and their chipsets will perform as advertised when paired with a good motherboard manufacturer. I have gathered, via the...

Comment - Lian-Li EX-23 enclosures: opinions?
Are you installing it into a Lian-Li case? I don't know that they will fit another manufacturer's case. I have a Lian-Li PC 6077B which is outfitted with the EX-23. I replaced the fan with a PC Power & Cooling Silencer fan, undervolted. It's quiet. HD temps are fine - 35 & 37 C - in Texas. My observ...

You mght consider a different power supply. A number of recent PSU reviews have shown Antec supplies not being able to hold up under stress. My experiences - had an Enermax that didn't provide stable volatages and failed during a brownout. Had an Antec True Power 430, ran just fine - but it was not ...

Fortron PSU's have it where it counts
Tom's Hardware has conducted a demanding test of several PSU's for reliability, stability & acoustics. Multiple failures amongst various vendors. Antec units were toast. They have reviewed the same Fortron 60GNF - and it passed with flying colors. http://www.tomshardware.com/howto/200507111/stresste...

I have an earlier version - the ATC 201. Very high quality construction, heavy and stout. I added foam dampening on the side panels - though it didn't resonate beforehand. Airflow is excellent - and perhaps the only downside from a quiet standpoint is that sound can escape the front and top. Definit...
