Re: Please don't put another Moron in the White House

Swedish media loves to follow the US presidential race. Especially the GOP nomination process, with good focus on the most outlandish political ideas (of which there are plenty in the Republican Party crowd). We all want to gloat, get scared and eventually see who of the candidates actually wins the...

Freakin' Ad-Aware robbed me of hours of work

Not only did ad-aware take its share of time updating itself. When it finally had finished downloading the new files it simply proceeded to turn my computer off. I was bumped out of a game, lost a word document that had taken more than an hour to write, lost the firefox windows with a long and mindb...

Note that we're only talking about the purely economical costs. I find it cynical to not at least try to weigh in the tragic life stories. But this would leave me open to arguments about what "happiness" actually means... A good case in point for our discussion. What if smokers are happy (in their ...

Describes a model where EVERYBODY pays LESS. You asked how it worked, so I oversimplified it so even you would understand the basic idea. Estonia has flat tax. If you want real data, check up how they do it. Estonia is your good example? If you cannot understand how a simple flat tax can benefit th...

What's not making sense is the implication that when compared to the existing progressive system, a flat tax would favor the rich. Considering that today, most taxes are optional for any wealthy Norwegian. They can't pay any less, so how would they benefit from a flat tax? We have the very same pro...

Say what you will about it but the numbers are quite clear: swedes are healthier than most and smoking is dwindling. This makes sense, especially as healthiness reduces the burden on the state. ...

Describes a model where EVERYBODY pays LESS. Of course everybody "wins" then. At least as long as we focus solely on paying and not on what it would be like if we did not pay taxes at all. And by the way, in your system the poor don't win because of the flatness, they win because it's very non-flat...

As a result the US generates so much more (even considering its size) than Sweeden in ideas, culture beliefs, research, influence - all both good and bad. Is this true? Happiness is not aim. Redistributing wealth is communism

Have a look at Second European Quality of Life Survey. (Societies that strive for equality are consistently best in class.) But economy also plays a big part. The happiest folks live in countries with high taxes - which at least to some extent burdens the economic growth that also matters. We know U...

Re: Total Silance

I built an Audio Recording Workstation out of a P182 case and use the Zalman Reserator to cool the cpu and graphics card.
