This is a 2 1/4 year late response. (How time flies!) I just wanted to thank Denorios for his kindness in taking the time to explain the intricacies of RAM speeds. I know this might seem ridiculous but my conscience was bothering me. I hate it when people fail to thank me for making the effort to he...

Hey, thanks, folks! This was a pleasant surprise, to see two replies right away--and addressing my main concern even though it's technically off topic. Sthayashi, this actually is not that unusual a question, I think. One or two posters mentioned it higher up in the discussion, saying that it comes ...

Well, here's one newbie who has the perennial question 'how hot is too hot' and can't find an FAQ on it. Was one created? I've looked and can't find it--and I've spent more time than the average person would to avoid starting a new thread.. If it's in the forum somewhere, it's not in an obvious--or ...

can one put a pc3200 memory stick in a pc2700 mobo?

hi all, i was wondering if anyone would know about this. i have a soyo k7vme . it can handle up to pc2700 memory but not beyond. since pc2700 memory is actually a bit more expensive than pc3200 at newegg, i would like to buy pc3200 and have the option of upgrading the mobo in the future. (i'd actual...

i wasn't getting many replies in this cases & damping section and thought i might get more input in the place where it was really supposed to go (newcomers briefing room) -- which turned out really well b/c mikec convinced me the breeze was too risky. what i should have done was declare this thread ...

Responding to your PM...I can't comment on any of your case choices, since I've only seen pictures. But I can tell you this: since most of my recent projects involve extensive internal modifications, I prefer a less expensive case to start with, since I'll no doubt be chopping the thing up. The las...

thanks to all who have answered. i really appreciate your taking the time. hey, luminous, i had taken a look at the acousticase that was recommended. i find it seriously underwhelming in terms of looks. if you're concerned about keeping the hdd's cool, you should check out this thread . in it, ther...

yeah, i think you are right. i didn't think too much about the v-tec. i was just really jazzed by the mesh which, i assumed, would block electromagnetic radiation (emr) but allow light through. that detour i was referring to in my original post was the weeks i spent looking at cases with side window...

nexus breeze vs. antec p160 (was newbie quiet-lover buyi...)

hey all, can any knowledgeable people help me out on this? i'm looking to buy a really nice case but, you've heard the refrain before--i don't want to pay a lot of money! right now it looks like it's between the nexus breeze and the V-Tech EC-7105 which i found in another discussion in this forum (t...

newbie query: nexus vs. v-tec vs. ?

hey quietguy, thanks for the post. (i'm originally from massachusetts as well [newton], if that's what 'MA' means and not mauritania!) have you had any more thoughts on the case, now that you've had it for a while? two things i'm wondering: how easy is it to open the side panel, and is the front pan...

acousticase aesthetics and the search for the perfect case.

hey wombler, how does that acousticase look? is the front panel made out of plastic? i'm looking to buy a really nice case but, you've heard the refrain before--i don't want to pay a lot of money! right now it looks like it's between the nexus breeze and the V-Tech EC-7105 which i found thanks to an...
