Well, I did the opposite. I downgraded to an old GeForce ti4200 64mb card that I had in another pc. Everquest still runs on that video card, just a little laggy. I need to spend a little as possible, about to buy a house. I tell you what, my computer is a LOT quieter now. I't not silent, but I'm hea...

EDIT:
That's not the one I was looking at.
The card is nice but I don't want to spend $400.
I'll stick with the passive 128MB 6800.
I need to spend as little as possible.

I think I may go with the 6800 I want a card capable of playing the high end FPS games, but honestly, I don't play them that often. I play everquest, which isn't too demanding. I'd rather not spend close to $300 but my video card is not really usable. Probably going to purchase that today, I was loo...

I may deeper in a mess then that. Even with a known good video card WinXP is in a reboot loop. Usually a format and wipe fixes it, just sucks because I won't be able to make a backup. Sigh, I'd rather not downgrade on a card. The 6800 has more horsepower but less ram. Not sure if I should go with it...

Well, I guess I will be buying that new video card or some other video card. I installed the zalman thing and it fit in my case!! Then I dropped in the drive cage, the zalman stuck up 1/4" too high. Ooooo so close, so I lifted the drive cage up and rigged it up, so it would not hit the zalman heatsi...

Hello, I received the Zalman GPU cooler as well as a northbridge heatsink. The fan that I bought is not a M1A, I guess I was not paying attention when I ordered it. I have some other 80mm fans for now, will try and get a M1A later. I did a dry assembly (test fit) on the video card and it all assembl...

Thats what I'm trying not to do.
I don't want to buy new hardware and I won't allow myself to upgrade or the process will start again and never start.
I just hope that the zalman does the trick.

Hello, Sorry for the silence everyone. I ordered a Panaflo M1A, a Zalman ZM-NB47j (Northbridge HS), and a Zalman ZM80D-HP (Video HS). I've received these parts in the mail. I'm a little concerned about the video card cooling, not sure if it will fit. I'm going to remove both tornados this evening an...

Ok, sorry I didn't catch on. I'll see how quiet my PSU is after I quiet down the rest of my case. I don't hear it now, obviously because of my tornado's. I'm feeling the same way about two exhaust fans on the back, one on the inside and one on the outside. I think I'll just order a Panaflo M1A for t...

I have a feeling you're still thinking I'm going to purchase a new case.
I'm sticking with my Shuttle SN45G.
This is the PSU I have:

It has a small fan on each end, it is one of the best Shuttle SFF PSUs available.

I'm not having trouble with the cooling, it's the noise.
If I remove the tornado, do the mod to the case, I won't have a way to mount a fan. This is why I must look at video cooling alternatives.

After looking, it looks like the PSU I have is one of the better ones for the Shuttle SFF PCs.
Also, I don't want to purchase another videocard, mine is powerful enough, I just need to cool it.
I don't think a Zalman ZM80D-HP will fit, it's pretty tight.

SpeedFan detected the temp sensors on my 5900Ultra.
I renamed each one and now I can see my system, cpu, gpu, and vid memory temps, it's great.
I know of no other software that detects video card temps.

If an 80mm Panaflo will do the trick then I may just go that route. I still cannot find a fanbus/rheobus that doesn't protrude way out or look like a riceboy's dream. Digidoc 5 is nice, I've liked it since they removed the dinky fan and replaced it with ports up front. Other than a fan controller I'...

Wow, that thing is huge! I've never seen a heatsink that big. So, if I went with the SP-97, I could throw a low noise fan on it and be done, or I could go with a tower HS and use the 120. The 120mm fan wouldn't be sitting directly on the HS, but it would be close, I don't think I want to go that rou...

I still have the heat issue with the video card, with a decent fan on it, it still ran up to 80c on load. The upgrading to the full size case is a want and a need at this point. Giant III

Looks like the Thermaltake Giant III can cool my 5900 Ultra 256mb.
I was reading about some of the other GPU coolers and they weren't meant for the high end and hot cards like mine.
Here is a link:

After learning of this site, I'm thinking of just moving to a full size case. I would have to purchase cooling for my CPU and GPU, a case, PSU, and mobo. I think I could do that for a few hundred bucks. For a case, I like the Antec Sonata, $99 and includes a low-noise, single fan PSU. http://www.sil...
