How will I know it's a Barracuda IV? On Seagates product site there's information on the Barracuda's 7200 and 5400 series but I can't find much about Barracuda IV.

Recommend me a quiet hard drive for an old machine.
I'm looking to replace an 8,4GB IDE (Ultra DMA 33/66) hard drive on an old machine, bacause it makes this buzzing electric noise.
Would some one recomend a few quiet hard drives maybe 20-30 GB that I could look for new or used. Btw I'm trying to keep the costs down.

Pick me a passive heatsink for an old Riva TNT2
I want to replace the heatsink/fan of an old Riva TNT2 card. I'm thinking of sticking a ~6 euro passive chipset heatsink on there. From these which do you think I should pick? Cooler Master Northbridge Chipset Cooler (PAC-P01) Zalman ZM-NB47J Zalman ZM-NB32K Revoltec Northbridge Freezer I'm leaning ...

Update: for the price of a NoiseBlocker S1 80 mm fan, 4 screws, some sewing eleastic and 4 cable clips (or whatever they're called in english) I’ve managed to supend the fan in front of the heatsink and silence it considerably. I screwed the cable clips to the top of the tower and have the fan suspe...

Peerke : Btw, where did you put the sewing-elastic? Did you wrap it around the CPU, cooler and fan. Or did you suspend the fan from the case? Is there any danger of the elastic catching fire? :P SebRad : it gives me some ideas but I would have to bend a bracket/arm a bit or screew it on the top of ...

That sounds crazy, but do-able :P How did you manage to suspend the fan though? I used sewing-elastic. Just tie the fan to the case. Very ghetto but very easy and effective. lol, but I'm going to try it, but will the fan dangle around or something? I'd put in the effort if there's a better way of s...

An old AMD K7 Athlon slot A cooler: how do I silence this?
I'm building a pc from some old computer parts I had laying around. By far the noisiest component is the fan of the cooler of an old slot A (or slot1 whatchamacallit) AMD k7 Athlon 500Mhz CPU. The fan is 50 mm and it's just fooking noisy. The cooler looks something like this: http://img178.imageshac...

Re: silent mouse
I have solved the mouse clicks by tuning of the microswitches. Noiseless. See http://www.pcsvet.net/web/view.php?cisloclanku=2004102001 It's in czech only, but the pics may give you the idea. Hello folks, I've finally translated the article on silencing mice (rewritten in fact), check it here: http...

With those system specs you'll probably be able to use a "brick" PSU (external, passively cooled). I can't help you with choosing from the list though... That sounds like an interesting and cheap solution... I'm going to do some searching. Thing is I have an abnormally noisy Be Quiet PSU that I'm r...

Help me pick a "silent" PSU
Help me pick a PSU from this shop's list: http://www.aquapc.com/aquapc_psu.html I want the “best” PSU I can get for my money and the most silent and most efficient. :P I’m not gonna overclock my setup. I don't need a lot of wattage and I have a very basic setup to power: AMD XP 1,53 GHz, Asus K7S8X,...
