Re: New Motherboard Help
Steve from Hardware Unboxed recommends the MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 as one of the best value oriented motherboards for the 12600k, i left the video at the time of his remark How Bottlenecked Is Battlefield 2042? CPU Benchmark feat. 128-Player Battles , the board has been getting very good user reviews on...

Re: Scythe Mugen 5 S with new fan
Nice find Steve, still dont like how new CPU Coolers cant come with it, but i do have Mugen5, Fuma2 and Ninja5 that could use those mounts in time. Btw im not liking what im reading on Amazon about the snail fan, Too loud These are loud even at low speed. I guess it is the motor but they were unusab...

Re: Scythe Mugen 5 S with new fan
Generally i would see this as a plus, but this time.....
Its being released at the same time as alder lake, charging more and not having the support... its a let down.CPU Sockets: (for Intel LGA 1700 socket, an additional mounting upgrade kit is required)

Re: Strapping NF-A12x25's to a RTX 3070
Asus stuck with the ~1000rpm min fan speed for this card, even though the fans can go much slower and it would allow for a much lower speed vs temp profile for non-max use cases. Kinda stupid. I bet you could simply change the fans for the Noctua NF-A12x25 LS-PWM , and very likely end up with much ...

Very nice GPU with very low noise.
Interesting that TechPowerUp can measure to 21.9db now.

Adding the Bitwit video, while not a pure T30 review, its one of the fans he tests and practically wins all the tests. Sadly he didnt had a NF-A12x25, which imo should preform very close.

Re: Help find a R6 replacement with better cooling
I agree with Japanese Capacitor, open the R6 frontal door and remove the filter, thats as good as it will get in any of the airflow oriented cases. If you are not happy with your temps and noise like that, a new case wont fix your issues. Personally i reach the point where i cant cool a 5950x quietl...

SilverStone like month or two ago launched new Fortress - Alta F1 - but short time before launch changed their mind and make it China-only product with limited availability in USA and Germany. If I'm not wrong, USA buys by SilverStone's site, Germany in Case King store. With Alta F1 they resigned f...

Re: Fractal Define Torrent
Its seems a good concept, i do think Fractal did a great job on the case... now on the pricing i think they went a little higher than they should have, there are so many airflow oriented cases today, that cost half of what the Torrent cost, given that it already comes with the fans... still don't li...

Re: Thermalright Frost Spirit 140
I'm very likely to buy one to test, still want to compare it to Gentle Typhoon and NF-A12x25, its still on my list, but as with Artic Cooling P12/P14, that sell for a very good value, were hyped a lot by youtube reviewer, but a lot of people start reporting hums around 1000-1200rpms, that the review...

The z height is less. So, that may impact things. Maybe some new spaces =P If so, I would interest in these ones: https://www.scytheus.com/wonder-snail-120 Rather not many reviews yet, I've seen only one heatsink test-comparison, but claiming it's on par in pure cooling or cooling/noise with superi...

Re: Thermalright Frost Spirit 140
I'm guessing we will see a new generation of socket adapter kits though for mount compatibility. Seems like the mounting holes of LGA1700/1800 is the same as LGA1200/1155/1151, but im not sure height wise, etc, but overall seems the mounting will be the same, more so if they want to make use bigger...

Re: Thermalright Frost Spirit 140
Seems Thermalight new line is aimed into competing for value, i just saw the new Thermalright Peerless Assassin retailing for $41.38, which would be a the price of the kotestu, for a twin tower with dual fans, this cooler probably will compete with the Fuma2 which is almost 50% more expensive.

Re: Noctua NH-P1 Passive CPU Cooler
I wonder how well it'd do with your boosty Ryzens :) The initial comments from GamerNexus, seems they are modding their test methodology to fit this cooler, probably out of not complying or sustaining high core count cpus. My guess, is that it will perform slightly better than the HR22, but not as ...

My AMD experience with Ryzen
Its more a rant, but i have now my fair share of testing Ryzen with 5950x and 5900x for more than 6 months, marvelous cpus, faster and more efficient than Intel 10/11gen, its nice to see AMD really putting some hard competition with intel, but not all is great with them. Thermalright Frost Spirit 140
We have been given lots of CPU cooler options over the past decade, SPCR liked a lot the offering of Scythe like Kotesu and the Mugen, more so because they offer very good performance for the money. Thermalright in the past have been a very high end tower cooler with offering like Silver Arrow or HR...

i7 1165g is a mobile CPU, 28W TDP but very capable, also comes with intel XE 940 igpu, so all around is a very good CPU, it has started to come on NUCs and small pcs, wait for AKASA to release a passive case for it and you are set.

Re: New PC build
Asus bios fan control sucks, its very picky and a lot of times it doesnt work as we do the graphs. On the contrary, Asus FanXpert is pretty good, not only to recognize each fan but with fan tunning you are presented with a suggested graph that most of the time work well enough, but you can vary it t...

Re: is there a more silenceproofing case than antec p183(2007)
P183 is still a good case today, its a little harder to work with than todays offering like the Define R7, but as long as you are fine with what the P183 offers there is no reason to upgrade, probably the fans overtime will wear down and a replacement might be worth it. As for the USB3, if you are s...

Re: ASUS Z87-Deluxe fake 4-pin headers & other fan control info
Now I´m debating whether I should keep Asus AI-suite or not. The Fan-Xpert did provide more settings, but I don´t like programs running in the background when I can do this from BIOS. This is the main reason i no longer run Asus motherboards, the bios fan control of MSI is much better, even Asrock ...

Re: ASUS Z87-Deluxe fake 4-pin headers & other fan control info
So I´m still hanging on to my 4790k and recently got my hands on a Asus Z97-Deluxe board. The problem I´m having is the Q-Fan control. I have connected two fans with a splitter to the CPU_Header. Both fans are PWM --> https://www.bequiet.com/en/casefans/1636 brand new. I set the Q-fan control to PW...

Personally i dont see the 5800x so hot, with the 5600x/5800x/5950x you get $50 per core on MSRP (thats if you can find one at that price), while the 5900x around $45 per core, as long as you can use the cores this is best buy of this gen, i would even say that its a better investment for someone tha...
