Looks like so far I've got the title of "most hardware running on a 300W power supply". =) Summary: 2 Athlon XP CPUs, 4 hard drives, floppy drive, CDRW, 5 PCI cards, 1 AGP card, 5 80mm fans (case + CPU fans), 1 video card fan, on Zalman 300W APF w/Panaflo L1A @~9V. Runs hot, stable, and quiet enough...

Okay, I decided to pull out all the stops. I ducted my power supply just as you suggested by putting a big piece of cardboard (thin cardboard) underneath the psu and opening the top 5 1/4" bay of my case. I then removed the super tornado and put the Zalman back in, but fan-modded it with a Panaflo r...

Hmm...the Super Tornado Mike reviewed was quite quiet at 150W load. So it seems strange that yours is so loud. After reading the review and my own experience with the Super Tornado 300, as well as a number of negative posts on the boards, I was also wondering: is it really wise to do a review on a P...

I did read about the company split in the Silenx review, however, what confused me is that in the pictures in your review, your power supply has the "full range" sticker on the back, whereas the power supply in the pictures at ncix.com (click on "more pictures") does not have this sticker, and inste...

silenx 400W -- version clarification

I did a search on silenx in the forums, after sifting through a bunch of articles couldn't find what I was looking for. (By the way, if you're reading this MikeC, would it be possible to allow searches on topic titles only? I always get a ton of posts that aren't relevant when I search on the full t...

Wow, thanks for all the info! All things considered, I think I'm going to try the SilenX 400 watt power supply. I looked at the Super Silencer 400, and that only provides 30A on the +5V line (it's optimized for 12V line wattage). I also tried to find a power supply called the SX400, but I couldn't f...

That's great!! I'm so excited...it IS possible to have a quiet duallie without too much effort! I just have a couple more questions, based on your reply...which Antec 400W power supply are you using? There doesn't seem to be a 400W Truepower supply...there's a "solution series" SL400 and a PP403X......

ATTN: Dual Athlon users! What power supply do you use?

Well, I've tried a couple of power supplies now, and while it's been fun, it hasn't exactly been cheap. So I need some advice: what power supply will run quietly in a dual Athlon 1700+ plus rig? The two power supplies I've tried are: Zalman 300APF Seasonic Super Tornado SS-300FB I think both of thes...

Actually, I know that both Maxtor and Seagate have an "acoustic management" utility to control the amount of noise a hard drive makes. I have two Barracuda IVs, which are very quiet out of the box. I then decided, like you, that I wanted to hear the drives when they were working. So I downloaded thi...
