Re: Please help with an upgrade for my Media Center PC?

So can't you use some other player software than PDVD to play the videos? Maybe some open source solution. User who paid for the content, should not have to deal with DRM-caused troubles. I know it is stupid, though there only seems to be two players (PDVD/TMT) that play Blu-rays/HD-DVDs and both a...

Thanks for the information, will defiantly check whether the HDMI > DVI converter is included. It tends not to be included with the boards built with the class of GPU that you’re interested in and the DVI > HDMI adapter isn’t so easy to find in the UK the last time I looked and the price tends ...

Thank you for your reply, does the ATI 3450/3470 have the same image quality as the 7900GT which looks superb and would the 3450 be able to handle Blu-ray playback on my system without any stuttering?

Hi Southpaw, you are of course correct, my bad, I read the chart as 25W both ways, which was a stupid assumption

I wonder what the 3470s idle power draw is, anyone know?

Sapphire HD3470 Power Consumption?

Hi Guys,

Anyone know the idle/load power consumption of the ATi HD 3470 card, and if possible more specifically the passive Sapphire model?

I've been searching for a couple of days with no luck! :(

Thanks.

Hi Guys, I am looking for a passive cooler for my 7900GT 512MB as my stock cooler makes a slight whining noise that is driving me nutts  The card usually stays below 50C with the stock cooler as I rarely play any games, the system is used mainly as a media center. Hello,

Could anyone tell me if this motherboard supports HDCP via HDMI?

Cheers all.

Surely all this comparing of thermal dynamics is a mute point!

Just try it for yourself and see how much this solution will silence your drive while keeping it well within the recommended temperature range. This is after all the result we are looking for!

Practise beats out theory every time

For those who already have made their enclosure(s), do you have any foam in there? If the gelpacks are suppose to transfer the heat from the drive to the enclosure, won't the foam just hinder the heat transfer? I put a narrow strip of thick foam along the bottom of the enclosure, the coolpak still ...

Thanks Thomas, seems all is as should be :) .. Which direction should the fan rotate? The fan of all ATI or NV Silencer coolers should rotate clockwise.
