I guess that the folks at Anand don't know what a logarithmic scale is. Unless we were working with a base 8 numbering system an 8db difference can't be double. By definition, a 10db difference is a doubling in a base 10 logarithmic scale. How they could come up with their figures is beyond me. Brett

Hi... The answer to your question is that the yellow wires are the 12 volts coming out of the PSU. You gonna have a problem though trying to get 12 volts out of the PSU when the computer is off. If you need to power up the PSU without it being plugged into the motherboard ,you need to short the one ...

My question is which part of the zm80 gets the hottest/ which part do i need to have airflow on? The FRONT gets the hottest but in order for the ZM80 to function properly, idealy the fan should only blow on the back side heat sink. Read what I mention in the review towards the end, about the back H...

Hi Poizen... I hope you're safe over there...be careful! Like WantMy...said, the Shuttle heat pipe for their SFF systems is exactly what you're describing. Take a look at http://www.overclockers.com/articles651 for a good pic of it. That particular HSF is running in my Shuttle system now and it does...

I really don't think that your absolute case temp is the issue with using the ZM80. Even when I tested it OUTSIDE of a case in a 23C environment the temps of the GPU went up over 50C. The key to making it work well is to have quiet but sufficient airflow. IMO, even if you used the ZM80 in a VERY COL...

Hi... If the AIW card has the holes for the stock heat sink close together (right near the corners of the GPU) then it probably will work. The narrower hs mounting brackets for the ZM80 are teller than the wider pair and they end up with the hs sitting higher off of the card. The wider set of bracke...

I agree with auxyone's reply totally. You'll actually need a significant amount of TIM when assembling the ZM80 and the included white stuff is just the right amount. I don't think that using AS3 will do any harm, but I don't think it will really help either.

Hi... It should be no problem cutting out the stamped fan grill. You shouldn't have to remove the PSU guts but you'll have to carefully protect them. Here's how I would do it: -get a large size plastic food bag -cut it open on 2 adjacent sides so that you have one sheet of plastic -open the psu cove...

Running the power supply outside of the case and extending the DC cables will cause some additional resistance. By definition there is 1 ohm of resistance in 1 foot of pure copper #10 AWG wire. So extending your cabeles will add marginally, more than one ohm per foot since you will be using smaller ...

Hi Gandalf... The article at dansdata.com is very accurate about power use. (BTW...I'm the one who did the measurements he refers to regarding motherboards.) While doing some testing for a review that I'm writing I made some measurements that might be helpful in answering your questions. In a P4 sys...

Hi... I've written a number of recent reviews on Overclockers.com that directly measure real (not estimated) power draw. While I agree with some of the power estimates that gamers.com posted, some of mine actually are quite different. My measurements seem to indicate that the requirements for the +1...
