Custom brushed stainless steel quiet case
Hey guys, This is not the most active place anymore, but I go way back to the Yahoo group days (I think it was yahoo..) This is a positively tiny 18 liter mini itx case with enough room for full size cpu coolers, graphics cards and powersupplies, and soft mounted harddisks, even with room for a slim...

Heya, does your gtx970 have coil whine?
Also, could you disconnect the fan connector without having to remove the stock heatsink?

Raised 'roof' Antek ISK 110 to fit higher coolers, easy mod!
Tiny case, slight nightmare to assemble, and very low.. I wanted to use a Scythe Big Shuriken 2, knowing it was too high. The motto was buy first, fix problems when they come! :) I found a simple way to raise the side panel so you can fit higher coolers. At the price, including the fanless 'brick' p...

NSK3480: a classic case rebuilt with .. classic components..
Back in 2008 I bought the guts of this pc and it will serve me for another while, so I made a few upgrades and made some pics! The Antec NSK3480 is lovely. So small and understated and just large enough to fit a big graphics card! Most micro atx cases are at least 1.5x the volume. I did make some mo...

5870 Eyefinity 6 PCB, does it have 2 pin fan connector?
Hi guys, Somewhat unlikely candidate for an answer but here goes. Attached a pic of the Eyefinity 6 PCB. I'm going to ditch the stock cooler and install some Arctic cooling one with a slowish 120mm fan. However the PCB has a 4 pin probably PWM type connector as well as a 2 pin connector very near it...

Re: Audioengine A5+ Speakers and Wireless Audio Adapter
SPCR in the past was essential if you wanted to 'tone down' your PC noise levels. Today, so many quiet products exist that building a quiet pc has become easy with off the shelf products. Back in the Athlon XP / P4 days you had to be more hardcore if you wanted to compute in near silence. However, I...

Re: Druneau's NSK3480 i5/HR-02 Build
Very very nice, way nicer than my build. I did do a 120mm hole in the bottom of the nsk3480, with a Nexus 120mm pointing right on the Accelero S1 cooler. I have no front intake fan anymore. It was VERY noisy to do with the jigsaw but worked well. The only reason the fan runs at 650rpm is that its th...

NAS questions, not just about noise either! :)
Hey all, Moved in with the girl! yes yes.. So we have a few pc's and laptops and luckily we share our taste in music. And we like the idea of having a Raid type mirror setup in a NAS, so we only have to store the music and files on one location, that will be 'safe' in shape of a second harddisk, sho...

Not that much more power than a 4850, which an accelero S1 can cool very easily. Very good performance/watt, within realms of a quiet not too power hungry pc!

Gigabyte GamerHud ; does it really work? (voltage adjust)
Heya, Does anyone have a Gigabyte card that supposedly allows you to set the voltage? There is confusion on the net. In my case, using the latest version of GamerHud, I can select a voltage but when applying it defaults back to 0.9V. With the GamerHud version that was supplied with the 3d card, the ...

Graphics cards can deal with heat and 90c is no real worry, plenty of stock cooling units get this under load. The 75c mentioned by the previous poster is quite subjective.. More objective is that users have been using hot grapics cards for years.. Sure, making it run cooler might increase the overc...

What type of panel is my old 20'' screen?
Heya folks, Being a bit old I can't find the panel type of my Philips Brilliance 200P3 : http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/280/1016280/philips-brilliance-200p3-lcd-monitor Its getting a bit old and tired, and its obviously not a TN panel. I don't know if its a PVA or IPS. Having tried TN, I d...

Certainly a good and honest product but, in a 'fairly powerfull system' it will ramp up under load, a bit sooner than a Enermax Pro82+ 425W unit for example. Why do you say that? The Nexus tops out at 19 dBA at 430 W output, show me one PSU with a fan that does better than that. For instance, the M...

while it seems to work well, you'd say the middle bit of the base will get the hottest, so the middle heatpipe will get the hottest, so the middle stack of fins will get the hottest, yet these fins are small and they can't spread the heat to the outside of the heatsink as is the case with all the ot...

My pro82+ also runs at about 500rpm minimum, never the 450rpm they specify. I hear a very slight motor/bearing noise that would indeed be the loudest component when there is no HD activity.. That said though, if thats the loudest part of your system you should consider being done with the silencing ...

Never ever ever ever trust what random people say on forums.. There are only very few exceptions to that rule, some of which you can find here. You're trying to cure non existent problems. I reseated it, it seems to be on alright; perhaps the base isn't quite flat.. Its a E8400 dualcore at 4ghz and 1.55V in the bios (1.42 load) which is pretty hot but I agree, I didn't expect to be near 'danger' even overclocked.. The whole cooling thing is debated here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/...
