I don't think the AGP port was damaged since I put a 9600 and it's still working fine. Damn, do they know if it's AS5 or not? I didn't clean it off but there was some of the original left on the heatsink. I should have read this before I shipped it off...

Just a note, I enabled AAM and damn it is QUIET. It's quieter than my 7200.7; I can't even hear it from my desk.

Haha I will. It doesn't look physically damaged at all....Don't think they would notice. trust me just rma it for a new one. try to remember what thermal pad they used or grease and re-apply it like they did. They normally do a shoddy job of applying it as well, I noticed, so dont put too much to m...

It just said "Diamondmax" without the number on the side. But on the drive it says Diamondmax 10. So far, I'm surprisingly pleased with it. I just hope it doesn't die out; I've heard some bad things about Maxtors.

Wow, this is pretty quiet. I haven't heard it fully seeking (don't know if I can somehow test it), but just going through files, I can't even hear it. It's seems a little slower than the Seagate 7200.7 though.

How would you know if you have a diamondmax 9? Mine just says the ultra series....

edit- on the sticker on the side, it says "Maxtor Diamondmax". I'm not sure if that is the DM9.

I see good posts about the Maxtor DM10 series, but how are the normal/old ones?

I like the extra space of the Seagate but I also like the quietness of the Samsung. And I know Seagates are reliable but I'm not sure a...

Would this work with a Seagate 250GB 7200.8 IDE drive?

I've got a Seagate 200GB 7200.7 IDE and it's saying I don't have an ATA drive with "Acoustic Management".

Hmm let me try to explain the difference in seek noise....

IDE - A mouse squeeking (It's higher and softer, harder to hear and to notice)

SATA - A crow cawing (It's lower and tougher and rigid and a little louder. It is easy to hear even when you're not trying to)

Hope you guys like my analogy.

My experience with Seagates - IDE 7200.7 & SATA 7200.7

I'm not writing a review or anything, but I thought I'd just share my feelings. I had a 160GB IDE 7200.7 for more than a year. I have to say, they were very quiet (in my experience), didn't make any whining noises, and noise at seek was understandable. I needed extra space so I went with another Sea...

the heatsinks are not permanent, they apply with double sided thermal tape. checkout zalmans website, they have an animated install guide. and once again, i will state that AC does not have an AS4 or AS5 which fits properly. don't waste your time trying to email them either, they've got really crap...

I've heard theres a version of AC that fits with the X800XT AIW? Not sure about it though. Also, with a VF700, you have to permanently place the memory heatsinks. This is a concern if I ever need to RMA the card. The temps I posted were for the card. I get 50'C max on my CPU. I've tried opening the ...

Can't decide which one...for X800 XT AIW

I haven't seen many X800XT AIW threads so I decided to start one up. First of all, my temps right now are pretty high. It idles at 45-47'C and 75-77'C load. I think I have 2 choices - Arctic Cooling NV Silencer or Zalman VF700cu. I like that the AC exhausts the air out of the case, but I heard it is...

How little is too little? (Power supply - Having some probs)

Well, I really think I need a new PSU. I'm having random freezes when I play Farcry. They don't happen often, but they've been happening more.
