Aleksi, thanks for sharing the pics, gives me a good idea of the "space management" around NB with a Ninja. I guess your NB temps aint with overclocking? No overclocking involved. I'm in the middle of moving to a new apartment so I can't check this right now, but I have this odd memory that the NB ...

Moro, roughly 80C at idle and over 90C when stress testing. It was above 100C while stress testing, but I added an airguide which helped. This is the HTPC build linked in my sig. Good board, works well in Linux (Debian, kernel 2.6.18 and 2.6.25). However I recommend updating to the newest F4 BIOS. -...

So I finally got around to updating my HTPC. Here are the specs: - Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H mATX with two sticks of 800MHz Kingston ValueRAM and a X2 4850e (45W) - The CPU cooler is Ninja Mini (which for some reason is oddly a bit tilted sideways, temps are OK though). - Seasonic S12II 380W (with a NM...

Small update to my post... The Sapphire does not in fact have the adapters included. I emailed two shops and got the surprising response of "the box states that the adapters are included, but in reality they are not included"

Well, atleast once the wait was worth it. I ordered the new AMD X2 4850e, 2.5GHz and 45W, a passive Sapphire Radeon HD3470 along with two Seagate 7200.11 750Gb. The prices came down a bit during this wait and also got the new AMD processor.

It should be passive and has a price tag of <60€. Package Contents 7 Pin S-Video to HDTV Lead DVI-I to VGA Converter DVI-I to HDMI Converter ...

I've actually spent a few hours browsing Phoronix these last few days and reading their Linux GFX driver articles etc... and trying to figure out what would work. Yes, AMD seems to be concentrating on Linux drivers and apparently the 8.xx drivers seem to be quite decent. Well on the other hand, it d...

Thanks for the reply Jesse. It always seems that you end paying too much for latest technology (quad core) or then you get stuff that is slowly phasing out, but is cheap (dual core). Also thought about moving my main PC (X2 3800+) to function as my HTPC, but I really don't have any use for quad core...

HTPC upgrade, advice appreciated

Hi guys, so I'm planning to upgrade the HTPC shown in my signature. The system is used for DVR, watching movies, playing music and also as a NAS. I'm running Debian Linux with MythTV, so any comments regarding drivers etc are welcomed. My current plan is to get the following components: - Athlon AM2...

Moro, yep I think you're right about the Aerocool model. Thank you also for the nice comments, always appreciated! :) This setup would be perfect if I just needed a DVR / HTPC and it has served its purpose very well (although it really can't run HD movies). I've been running a socketA HTPC for about...

Radeon HD 3400 and 3600

Greetings, I've been looking around SPCR and the finnish computer forum Muropaketti for threads about the new Radeon 3400 and 3600 GFX cards. Hi hybrid, thanks for the nice feedback :) Actually the case is "pushed over" from the rear of the shelf, so it has decent air intake possibilities. Moro thejamppa (AKA thedude) :)

Depending on the PSU fan controller, power usage etc the two fans might spin at similar speeds anyway, so I would go for the 1600RPM fan to allow better cooling if required.

This particular power supply forum has a sticky about PSU fan swaps.

It started as silencing (well, quieting) a PC I had some years ago. It was running at night also, and we lived in a single room apartment back then. Silverstone LC20 HTPC [56k]

Hello, so along with my Seasonic S12II I ordered a new HTPC case for myself. My old LC03 had serious airflow problems and I was planning on getting a TV card which would have added more heat inside. So I got myself the Silverstone LC20 and I have to say it really is a nice and well designed case. Th...

A little mod on the airguide... I added some vented PCI plates from a P180. I then added an airguide on top of the GFX and repositioned the one on the side a bit higher. Allows me to run the 120mm NMB-MAT at 5V and still cooling the whole thing. Will probably redo the airguide a bit tidier at some p...

Derek, I knew that I would go with a single Panaflo 120x38mm at low voltages because it has good pressure capability. Hi Derek, no it's not dead silent. Basicly I didn't want to void any warranties (meaning the PSU) and I also had to build the system so, that it could be safely transported etc (meaning the HDD and suspensions). S12II fan swap

Hi, few photos of swapping the fan in the new Seasonic S12s. For this swap I made a small 2-pin to 3-pin adapter and used a NMB-MAT 120mm low speed ball bearing (NMB-MAT reference) fan. http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/7660/p1020597smallem0.jpg http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/6411/p1020643small...
