Interestingly, I probably do not really need it with the BE 2400 when considering that I idle at 35W vs Mikael's 56W... And I presume his PSU is actually more efficient than mine. It's probably a combination of a RAM stick less, no WLAN card and more efficient PSU (yes, your PSU is actually more ef...

I tend to see the baseline as being with Speedstep/CnQ enabled, the next level is with software undervolting and the final level is with BIOS under-volting. That wouldn’t add another stage to your testing either but bring it more into line with real world scenarios as commercial systems tend to s...

Interesting review. 8) Why did you choose to test with Speedstep & CnQ disabled? It seems an odd choice for a test looking at power consumption. Personal interest/habit, really. I always have them disabled, for the simple reason that they make so little difference compared to having the system run ...

I returned the board today for a refund, so I can't answer your questions, sorry. The board has a 4-pin connector for the CPU fan, but I don't know how the fan control function is affected by the use of a 3-pin vs a 4-pin fan. I probably should have tested the fan control function, but since I never...

Great job, i whish so much to know the power consumption difference between the 8200 and the 780g, and also in comparison with previous chip 7050 and 690g if someone could... Yeah, I'd like to know too. From what I've seen, it seems as if the GF8200 is close to the 780G and maybe slightly mo...

Okay, to summarize:

Athlon64 X2 4400+ Brisbane rev G2

3.00GHz @ 1.23V
2.66GHz @ 1.10V
2.30GHz @ 1.01V (stock clock)
1.00GHz @ 0.83V (lowest possible in Crystal CPUID, CPU may take lower)

EDIT: BTW, this CPU has a VID of 1.300V, which isn't even listen on the amdcompare.com site...

Should have mentioned that. -How do the CPUs compare (you say overclocked E2160 is faster, what about stock speed)? The 4400+ is faster at stock, which actually means the undervolted...

Testing out the GeForce 8200 chipset...(ASUS M3N78-EMH HDMI)

Okay, as I said a few days ago, I have bought an ASUS M3N78-EMH HDMI which is equipped with the massively delayed GeForce 8200 chipset. I don't know what promted ASUS to release their boards ahead of most others, but they've been available for some time and I decided to have a go at it. I will not t...

are the G2 cores replacing all G1s? Is there an indication in the model number to the core revision? I think they're supposed to replace the older G1 revision at some point, but there's probably still a lot of G1 CPUs in stock in most places. All G2 revision cores have box numbers that end with DOB...

The reason I'm posting this in this thread is that I think those who are interested in the 780G may also be interested in the GeForce 8200. I'll probably get the board tomorrow. I had exactly this problem on my Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2H with an Antec NeoHE 430W. I was probably experiencing the power on problem that this PSU got infamous for. Another difference to note is that the Asus board has an inferior audio codec (ALC883 vs. ALC889A w/ DTS Connect) and lacks a back panel S/PDIF connector. Mikael/Mariner, I think it's OK for the NB to get hot when doing heavy video decoding as the work is now off loaded from the CPU to the IGP, so long as it doesn't cause the system to freeze or show video artifacts due to overheating. There is probably little reason to have EIST activated on an undervolted E8400, since the power savings would likely be very small. I'd just fix the CPU frequency to the stock 3GHz and try to get the voltage down to ~1.0V (which is definitely a possible target) using the BIOS setting.
