you said when you moved the speakers to a different PC, you didn't get the noise. That tells me it's your card, not the speakers. Muting them in windows does nothing, it's still supplying power to the speaker mini-plugs.

OK, that whole power line & speaker line thing.... It's true in only about 1% of the cases. You can run power lines and speaker lines together and not have any noise, trust me, I've done car audio for years. It's basically a VERY rare instance that turned into superstition, then techno-bullshit. Any...

slight problem: I suggest if you live in the US, to check if there's a microcenter near you. There's a limit of 1 hard drive per visit, and I'm NOT going back 10 times for you folks, especially since I'm not getting any for myself either. Sorry guys, I tried.

HOT DEAL! samsung 160gb SATA for $60

Here's the deal: SOME (not all) Microcenters have the 160GB SATA spinpoints on sale for $60. I'll check tomorrow if they have them in Philly. Anyways, this is in store only, the web price is still $99. If they DO have them by me, I MIGHT be willing to pick some up to ship out to those who don't have...

I have the 1200VA belkin also, and I haven't heard a thing from it since I got it. You can also ge hem dirt cheap a Belkin's site, use the code"12345" for a 50% off coupon. I think I got mine for $60 or so.

Well, the cage is riveted in, so I'd have to pop everything out. Plus the fabrication of the NEW cage, and not only do I not have the patience for that, well, I doubt I have the time or the skill either. Frankly, the hard drives are inaudible. The noise that I AM hearing is the papst 120mm in the re...

Ha, I can see myself adjusting to it eventually. But Frankly, I don't see it getting much quieter without watercooling. Suspending the hard drives would be almost impossible with my case. Just not handy at all. BUT, I have 2 Novibes3 laying around for my to try some things out on.....

Thanks, guys!

Well, my case and parts arrived today, so my new system is completely installed, and I'm configuring windows as we speak. I went from a howling machine that I could hear in the next room to a machine that I can barely hear sitting next to it! I'm as giddy as a little girl right now. Anyways, t...

I agree with getting a BenQ burner, but using it as your secondary. An NEC 3500 should be your main drive. It's just as fast as the BenQ (faster at -R by far), silent, and with the hacked firmware, has bitsetting. The only thing the BenQ can do that the NEC can't is error reporting. But that's only ...

I thought they sent me an XP-1200000 by mistake. I also got in my Enermax 470 ($100 from frozenCPU with free black on black sleeving, good job too). I'm running three of them, and I have the same problem. Thank god Santa UPS is delivering my new case and Papst 120mms tuesday.

I think if you have an aluminum case, the vibrations of those CM fans will drive you nuts.

The Lite-On burners sound like jet engines these days, while the NECs are near silent. Plextor's quality has gone downhill the past few years, the fact that they're STILL the most expensive is a joke. It's like charging $50,000 for a honda civic.

Ummm... UV I'll say no. You can use dynamat Xtreme, Raammat, or the like and it has an aluminum backing. Just use fine sandpaper to get the logos off. Again, you have to mold the stuff, so I DOUBT you'll be able to get it looking straight. Edit: OH! For UV reactive, you can always use the aluminum b...

Well, it's flexible, so I'm not sure it would stick much. You'd have to do it while it's already applied too, as you have to mold the sheets to your case, and you can't do that AFTER you paint. But like I said... If you get enough and cut around the print or find a brand that doesn't USE print, your...

The LG supports DVD-RAM. It's pretty much a dead standard, I think LG is the only drive that still supports it. Anyways, I've never USED DVD-RAM before, so I can't comment on it, but it doesn't seem like something I'd need. Everything else (burn speed, quality, compatibility) goes to the NEC though.

I'm just glad you realised I wasn't trying to be a jerk about it. Going with a dynamat type sheet will give you a flat look, and you can get all black if you cut in the right areas.

BUT, usually, dampening and LOOKING nice don't go hand in hand. The temp differences wont be too different though.

Yeah, the V2 Beta 2 is their updated version of the final release. I hadn't been there in a week, I didn't know they already started on version 2 already.

NForce4 is out according to Newegg.com's stock. And yeah.... The 2001FP was MY first LCD too, I'm thinking about buying another one and going dual DVI. As for the NEC, well, you can either get an OEM NEC drive at newegg for like, $65, or look for Mad Dog drives on sale at Officemax. If you go nuts w...

So you want a super large compact car that costs $1000 and looks like a Bentley? =)

I'd go with plain old dynamat-like material. It'll just be a plain black sheet, and it'll look as good as you can cut it. But ALL absorbsion materials convert the vibrations/sound to heat. It's how energy works.

Skip the Aopen burner, get either an NEC (if you burn -R and +R mixed) or a BenQ (if you just burn +R). The NEC I know for a fact is silent when burning at full speed, I've never dealt with the BenQ though. Both are a lot better than the Aopen, though.

If you can hold off, AMD boards with PCI express will be coming out in the next few months. If you upgrade frequently enough, it might be worthwhile to get a 6600 PCIE instead of an AGP. As for the Samsung burner, avoid it. Get a NEC 3500, it's silent, and the best burning performance you can get (w...

Not to mention $60 cheaper. While the V1000 is probably my aesthetic ideal, I can deal with the FK's looks, at least a lot better than the Gaming Bomb or Sonata/BQE.

Yeah, Portman did some nude scenes in "closer", and when she say them in editing, she wanted them removed. Supposedly she grew up with the director, he was sort of her "godfather" or uncle, and he removed AND destroyed them at her request.

And I SO wanted to see that movie...

lol, yeah, the problem arises with the 4 hard drives, 2 DVD burners and no cooling whatsoever. I'd be scared to use nexus fans in this case, considering my video card is ALREADY at 81 degrees at idle. It's hot to the touch just with net/email/word usage. 120mm recommendations? I don't need silent, just quiet.

I'm trying to find a pair of fairly quiet, 120mm fans that'll flow enough airflow to cool down a Lian Li PC-v1000. I'm just looking for something that'll be say... Dell quiet or lower (which isn't quiet at all by your standards). I have a Wavemaster with 3 of the coolermaster 80mm LED fans and an Ae...
