Thermalright SLK-900A with 92mm L1A is what I am going to use when I build my next box. Does this not work for you? I will be over volting and over clocking as well.

Dude!!

Go to http://www.1coolpc.com/ and click on Slot 1/A CPU http://www.1coolpc.com/slotcoolers.htm . I have the AlphaK7HO-FAN (the HS is the old Alpha 7125). I am not using the fans. I put a 92mm Panaflo L1A on a Zalman bracket instead. This is the biggest HS for Slot A that I know of. I got to 1Ghz wit...

"Radiate" data files

Does anyone have any? I downloaded from the link on this site, and downloaded the data files. Too bad they are empty and the update URLs are no longer valid.

Thanks,

I don't think the WD120JB will be any worse than the WD80JB I have now. It is silent in a carving rubber box sitting on foam in the bottom from of my case.

The consensus here from the posts I have read about mufflers is that if you are running your fans at 5-7v you should not need them. They generate most benefit when you have a loud box with highpower fans. I could not resist trying these right now on my current case. I just ordered a kit with all 3 ...

Your system looks good! You have a Zalman 92mm fan listed in your basket, but I assume that will also be changed to a Panaflo L model. Yep. Regarding the PSU, the "How much will a 300W PSU run?" thread lists some happy systems that are more power-hungry than your proposed system, so 300W should sui...

Feedback on my beautiful (Lian-Li PC-6070) quiet plans

This is easier than listing it all here: http://secure.newegg.com/app/WishR.asp?ID=264288 I already have the CPU (Thoroughbred B), HD, and CDRW for far less money than @ Newegg. I included everything that they had in the list just to be complete. I will get Panaflo 80mm 12V L fans, not the H's liste...

jverheul, I suppose the thermal paste wouldn't be a bad idea, since the SE's top isn't very flat (last I remember anyhow). I figure it's still loud because the SD's metal plates which sandwhich the drive quite well are directly mechanically fastened to the case... OK. Can the part of the case they ...

jverheul, it's a HUGE improvement over what it was, but the seeks are still quite noticable. Thats unfortunate. I have to put my head next to the case and really strain to hear seeks. I was looking at the SilentDrive (SD) and thought of a few tips that may keep the drive cooler. Put some thermal pa...

I just did a bit more homework. SilentDrive says not to exceed 6.8W. http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=699&p_created=1037217622 says our drive is at 8W. I also have new 120GB WD SE that I have not used yet. The spec for it is only 7.75W. :? It seems you never re...

I have the same drive, but in a carving rubber box http://tinyurl.com/p01c . It only cost about $15. I left one side, the cable side, open and towards my intake fan. I put a temperature sensor in the box as well. It is usually in the mid 30's. The highest I have seen is 43C. After replacing all my f...

That is some good information Dorothy. However....... I doubt that all the 5W from a fan is transfered as heat to the air moving past it. Even a heat gun is not 100% efficient, and it is designed to heat the air passing through it. Most of that power goes to moving the air, not heating it. Most fans...
