Re: mCubed's HFX mini: Fanless HTPC "heatsink case"
I am surprised that the reviewer has made no mention of this. I have based my purchase on photoshopped pictures and a raving review, but would have been interested to know in forehand what it is that I amreally getting for my money. I am confident that that is true for most of SPCR's audience. Barr...

puscifer, I just saw that Logic Supply added a new wireless keyboard with trackbal to their online-store: ione Scorpius K3NTU Multimedia Trackball Keyboard for $35. (you can find a better photo of the unit at http://www.atacom.com who seems to be the original manufacturer. while it doesn't look as g...

Just got a reply from mCubed:
The keyboard is from Sharkoon and it's called WIRELESS KEYBOARD RF. Here in Austria it costs around €60 which is quite a lot in my opinion...
Anyway, hope that helps,
Christoph

First of all, thanks a lot for all your comments, I really appreciate the feedback! :) The ambient temps that were present when the testing was done, are somewhat unrealistic for most people. Even in the winter my house is about 21-22C, and in the summer with the AC running, I approach 29C frequentl...

Thanks for the kind words Trodas! I'm as glad as you are that things worked out fine in the end! Even though I'm currently thinking about writing a story called "VIA's Odysee from Germany to the Czech Republic" - it could be a real hit! :) Seriously though, your results look very promising at the mo...

So as far as S-Video output qualities are concerned you can't recommend using an Epia-M? What about the sound, is it worse than with other onboard-sound systems? I'm currently using the onboard sound of my P4PE but my next upgrade will be a sound card (probably an Audigy Player) because I listen to ...

Now if only I could find a store that sold 10000's with Nehemiah cores. Yeah, that's a good point! There's one thing that really surprises me: MikeC says that he received the board several weeks ago. That means that the Nehemia has been ready and working for several weeks! But why haven't we seen a...

Re: POSTSCRIPT added re: CLOCK speed
March 21/03 -- A POSTSCRIPT was added to the review about the odd speed of the sample board after reader questions and a conversation with VIA. Thank you for adding the postscript, it makes things clearer for readers, who don't check this forum thread. Most of my questions are now answered. The onl...

Mike, do you have any idea when the first Nehemia based boards are going to be available? 'Fraid not. I was surprised when I read on mini-itx.com that the 1st M10000s were ezra-t's. I had thought they were all going to be Nehemiahs right from the start. Via created a lot of confusion. I wrote to Vi...

Thanks for answering. But there are still some unresolved issues (at least for me): Are you suggesting that the first boards with Nehemias are going to be exact copies of the current M9000? What would be the point of doing that? As mentioned earlier it would only confuse costumer and create competit...

some thoughts regarding this review...
After reading through the review I'm kind of disappointed. Especially the marginal improvement of 4% in the FPU benchmarks is disappointing, as the Nehemia core is supposed to run the FPU with full speed (as compared to the Ezra core where the FPU runs at half of the clock speed). This brings up the...

How does Apple do it?
Hey people, is it true that most of the Apple desktops (except for the newest one) have worked without any fans??? I heard that the cooling was solely based on air rising from the bottom to some small holes in the top part... If you know anything about the strategies Apple used to achieve that, plea...

The next Epia - what improvement do you want?
Now that the Epia Ms have come out and we all know about its negative and positive aspects I'd like to know what you expect from the next generation of Epias??? Here's what I'd like to see (I'll assume (rather guess) that we'll see the next gen somewhere around the beginning of 2004, please correct ...

Epia M10000 (with 1GHz CPU) - just what we need...
Did you read the news on the frontpage???
An Epia-M with 1GHz CPU and a new heatsink plus a quiet fan - that sound pretty good!!! Now all we need to know is when these babies will start to ship!
What do you think about the Epia M10000???
Looking forward to your answers...
Regards,
TheEagleCD

IBM use to have a page with some sounds of head crashes and others that are now on the new Hitachi Website . The most annoying and freaky sounds. Horrible. Is it possible to passivly cool a watercooled PC?
I don't use water-cooling, but I'd like to know whether it is possible to build a system which would allow my system (see signature) to be passivly cooled. The only fan I consider to be a necesity should be in the PSU. And I know that a pump makes some noise but I guess this could be reduced to bein...

Via Epia ME6000, what do you think?
Hi people, I'm considering making myself a nice/small/quiet system for playing MP3s and movies (DVDs/SVCDs/VCDs/XVID/DivX). My question is whether the ME6000 is up to the job?! Which performance differences am I likely to encounter compared to the M9000? Thanx in advance, TheEagleCD P.S. I'm plannin...

Sorry, I guess that I didn't express myself clearly... What I meant was the fact that I'd have to try different pin-combinations in order to get the different voltages. Or am I wrong, and the pin-mod would only change the default voltage, therefore giving me a different voltage-range in the BIOS? Th...
