Re: Advice on an almost silent new setup.

So, finally I decided to buy one X3-ATX-300 for me and I would like to reflect my impressions here, for the record. The shipping was ver fast, considering it comes from China. Almost 5-6 days for arriving at Spain international customs, one week for delivery to my home. The PSU itself seems quite we...

Re: Advice on an almost silent new setup.

The power supply still does "hiss" noise, but I got used to it (gets masked by room sounds). It is the only bad thing about it. Thank you again for answering. I've read somewhere (I can't find the source now) that someone noticed the same hissing with this DC-DC, and the problem went away by removi...

Re: Semi-Fanless Build (Streacom FC9 + Pico PSU 300W + GTX 7

Hi, Since one year, no problem with this PSU. The sound (via HDMI & graphic card) is excellent, no noise. And no particular problem with 2 screens. I have bought the AC/DC converter with the PSU, maybe. It's a big one. Thanks for taking your time and answering. With the electrical noise I don't mea...

Re: Advice on an almost silent new setup.

the only thing that disapoints me is the X3-ATX-300 has electrical interferences sounds. Hi, jormartr, As I am planning buying the same passive ATX PSU (X3-ATX-300), and I live in Spain too, I would like to know if you managed to get rid of the electrical interference sound or, at least, managed to...

If this is true, Pinetrail is useless for HTPC, in my opinion. Could someone confirm this limitation?

I tested this board with a borrowed DC-DC 60w adapter, and it makes the difference. The power consumption is as low as 25w in idle, up to 35w during HD video playback.

It is very clear to me that most of the power supplies are not efficient at all in <10% load.

If you're using a cheaper wattmeter (Kill-A-Watt or something similar), it may just be giving you incorrect readings. Which one do you recommend? After doing some testing, the results are: Zalman 400w OFF - 32w FSP ZEN 400w OFF - 32w NO-BRAND 400w OFF - 6w Zalman 400w idle - 65w FSP ZEN 400w idle -...

Efficient power supply for ION

Hi all, I recently purchased a Zotac ION motherboard, actually the IONITX-D-E (20pin ATX power supply Atom330 version). I am very surprised to notice my ION is drawing double the power it does in the SPCR review. Mine is eating 65-68w of power while idle, 2-3w more during 1080p video playback. I am ...

cpemma, thank you for replying. I notice the problem after replacing my old board with an Asus P35. This board, during reset, it temporarily switches off (completely), and then it starts up again. So, there is a short power supply break, which leads my fans to spin off and then they cannot spin up a...

PCI-E 2.0 x4 is equal to 1.0 x8, so if your graphics card supports 2.0, you should be OK. The problem is that PCI-e x16@x4 in this mb seems to be electrically routed to the southbridge (PCI-e v1.0) instead of the northbridge (PCI-e v2.0). Your have half the bandwith, even if your graphics card supp...

Maybe you could attach an actual picture of the connector, or the complete VGA model, but my guess is that you are talking about an SP/DIF for digital audio over HDMI.

I've just read in Asus Forums that, due to G45 limitations, Gigabyte decided to change the 'natural' design (PCIe x16 2.0). In case a PCI-e board is inserted (whether it's a VGA or not), the IGP is automatically disabled. The problem is when you want to use a PCI-e x4 card (ie RocketRaid SATA contro...
