Deam: Sorry to talk about fans again but I thought you might be interested in what I found. Specifically since you are watercooling. From my test, when I got real close to blocking the fans exhaust, they got louder, the pitch changed prob due to turbulence/cavitation like Isaac mentioned above. 1/1...

Isaac, Did you notice a difference in speed intake vs. exhaust blocked? Maybe it didnt stop it entirely but I seem to remember there was a significant difference between exhaust and intake. Also, maybe I tried it at 12 volts. dont remember its been a long time ago. I will take your results since you...

Deam: Thats a lot a hard drives  . You definately would benefit from the maze and I'd have it's opening facing towards the rear or under the case. In response to Isaac: Makes sense in theory but cover the intake of the fan and it will still rotate. Cover the exhaust and it will stop rotation....

I think you both are on to something. Its either the laminar flow or static charge or a combination of both. I waxed the blades thinking it would fill in the microscopic scrathes and imperfections. Then the blade would be slick and nothing for the dust to hang onto. Instead it seems I got the opposi...

Thanks for posting that cause I always wondered what if. But yah, that would be a lot of work. If you could seperate the blade portion from the casing it would help alot. But otherwise, it is too tedious. the cleaning and waxing however is somewhat tedious and small fingers would help  but it ...

Anybody wax their fan blades?

I did  I want to know of anyone who tried this and what their results were. Comments are welcome. I grabbed an unused seven blade high speed fan (panny BX) and cleaned all but one blade with 90 percent alcohol and left to air dry. The one blade was just wiped with soft cotton. I then waxed thr...

When asked to go to sleep, it also shuts the PSU off but continues to draw from the +5VSB line enough current to keep the memory active. I am next to ignorant in this area, but think that when a PC goes to sleep (S1, S3, suspend to RAM etc) actually it keeps the PSU running in "full" On mode. Excep...

Maybe wrap the foam in aluminum foil. If no oxygen gets to foam - no fire. I dont think it affect the sound much. This seems like the complete opposite approach to the way they used to do reviews. :(
That site was great for heatsinks and such. They even went so far as to get an “Airflow Chamber” http://www.overclockers.com/articles750/

L1A heatsink fan longevity? any fail safe options?

The latest SPCR review has cautionary comments on using sleeve bearing fans on heatsinks. I have been wondering/worrying about this recently and those comments confirm my worries. I built a computer for a relative and it stays on 24/7 (the kid doesnt remember/wont turn the computer off when not in u...

Re: Silencing a PIII

I'm thinking about buying a Nexus Real Silent 120 mm fan (that orange one) and attaching it to the CPU somehow. I'm thinking rubber bands, but I don't know if that's the best way to do it. rubber bands are not good enough for this critical application. I used an 80mm fan and was able to put two scr...

are ALL 2600s going to be these 45 watt chips? if not what wattage are they going to be................. Most likely yes but to be safe what you need to look for is the model number. here are the most common model numbers: AXMD2000FJQ4C-2400FJQ4C ( 1.35v, 35 watt) AXMH2400FQQ4C-2600FQQ4C ( 1.45v, 4...

Nice indeed except for the added the holes in the PSU. I think they reduce the airflow through the factory placed openings which is where the air needs to go. in any case it looks like it would be easy to test since you already did the hard part.
