I just purchased one off ebay...and I am amazed at the noise reduction level on my Maxtor D740 60gb 7200...the high pitch "whizzing" noise is no longer there...and my HD temp. remains 48-50 C...according to Dtemp.

The newest version of MBM5 has built-in HDD temp monitoring. It uses the thermal readings from the built-in sensors just like Speedfan and Dtemp and HDDtemp do. Ther's a 3-pin connector that goes into one of the mobo's case fan headers.
