Neo Classic

I just read the review of GMC's Neo Classic case at ModLabs.net after catching the SPCR front page ad: http://www.modlabs.net/?location=articles&url=enggmc1 Aesthetics aside, I like the look of the Neo Classic, and particularly the 5.25" drive bay at the bottom of the case with USB, Firewire and IDE...

I found even BETTER method... Placed the fan right on top of top heatsink with double sided tape blowing down (air blows up right around fan and this is better than blowing up as it grabs air better for some reason) Remarkable! Any chance of a picture? I've had shipping confirmation of my HS and fa...

Water-X CPU Water Cooler

I had this brought to my attention and thought I'd pass it on. Anyone with any experience of one of these?

ZM80A-HP in the post

Interesting post re angle of fans. I just ordered the ZM80A-HP along with a Papst 80mm fan and Nexus NX-3000 PSU. It was my intention to try and fit the fan to the Zalman 123 bracket thus: http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/images/tkpower/photo-06.jpg That would mean the fan is blowing right on the...

Any particular model of Papst I should know about? For 80mm the Papst 8412NGL will do you well, and the 3412NGL is an excellent 92mm Brice Thanks Brice. I found a Papst 8412NGL for €16 at the same place that has the cheapest price for the ZM80A-HP at €29. An order shall be placed with much thanks t...

Cams, woops.. I didn't catch your location. Anyway, I've heard Papst fans are easier to find + cheaper in Europe.. They're also highly recommended ( > L1As ) .. Maybe you'll have better luck finding those. Brice Any particular model of Papst I should know about? -- just to save me some more digging...

i have mounted a quite fan as in the picture above, it seems to cool the board enough, however the top of the board the other side of the gpu is very hot to touch, im not sure if it was that hot when running the stock hsf, but at least its a darn site quiter. i wondered if i would be likely to have...

Ha! That's a nice trick. It still begs the question why some company doesn't just come out with a slot holder that lets a 80mm fan be parallel with the PCI/AGP cards? Who cares if it takes up a slot or 2. My guess would be this type of metal contraption to cost (at retail) at most $10? This would b...

Fan mounting on Zalman 123 Bracket

I was considering a purchase of the Zalman video card heatpipe cooler (ZM80A-HP) but then read the Fan Fundamentals FAQ at the top of this forum: Video cards with noisy fans can be replaced with various fanless HS from Zalman. But fanless doesn’t always work, and the HS replacement is not always nec...

I went for the 6500 alcu You too huh? Let us know what you think of it. My P4 is of the older Willamette ilk which, according to the manual, should have the fan set to high - it seems fine at low for me though, thank goodness. BTW, where to you order your online PC purchases? Just curious... Cheers...

GPU Cooler

Hello, I'm new to the concept of silent PCs but am already too far gone for redemption. I just fitted a Zalman flower HS (6500B ALCU) to my P4 and am really happy with the performance on my P4a (Willamette) 2.0 GHz (oc 2.1 GHz), even with the fan at its lowest setting. Of course now I can hear just ...

I recently had the same dilemma. The CNPS 5700D seems to run quieter than the 6500B but I felt that the 6500B would give better cooling, even the ALCU model, so that's what I went for. YMMV though. I think the 5700D would perhaps be the better option if you were to direct the ducting fan towards an ...
