Made it to page 2!

Well, after my kerfuffle last week, I've got two PCs folding away and I'm actually getting the points as well. I've now finally moved up on to page 2 of the stats, but it's precarious as I'm some 1533 points behind the next guy up and Destrier Rage is closing fast at only 690 points behind me. It's ...

It's okay - after a reboot, the service starts up again and the console is not visible. So I'm folding again on 2 PCs! Page 2, here I come! :)

Okay, I've got the problem sort of resolved on both PCs. I cleared everything out (but couldn't remove the actual service, so set it to disabled). I then downloaded the: "Windows NT/2000/XP "No nonsense" text-only console (with built-in Windows-service-install option)" 5.04beta. I then installed it,...

I recently rebuilt my main 24/7 folding PC. I also fold on the family PC on the same network. In both cases, I have FAH installed as a service. I don't remember how I installed it on the family PC, but in the Processes tab on the task manager, it shows FahCore_78.exe and FAH504-Console.exe. The form...

As the SlimServer software is under constant development, you could probably request this feature and have it included in a later release. I have to admit that I also find it surprising that this feature would be left out. I too use Adobe Audition, but I mix and master the wav files on my DAW, so th...

I just checked on my SB3 and you are right. FLACs seek okay - pressing and holding the ffwd button on the remote and releasing takes it to 2x; same again to 4x, etc. It doesn't do this with wav files for some reason. Could be a problem if you have large wav files and wanted to ffwd, although you cou...

I've got my server box finished with Clark Connect installed. The case is a GMC Neo Classic which has Magic Fleece damping material installed. I screwed the two drives into the drive cage and suspended the case with elastic. I have the case at my feet until I get my Gigabit switch and move it out of...

No pics I'm afraid but I got a Ninja installed on a Gigabyte GA-8ITX in a P-150 and am running it fanless with an orange Nexus as exhaust, stock PSU and no intake fans. Folding temp is around 43ºC. With the Zalman ALCU CNPS something or other (old flower one) I was hitting 70ºC without any difficult...

I've just installed Clark Connect on an old PC to run as a file server and it was easy to set up and has a small footprint. Mind you, unlike you, I am a Linux noob so easy was the name of the game for me. And if you enjoy tinkering, CC might not be the best option (although I do admit that I really ...

Some good, if conflicting advice so far. FWIW, one of my system's uses is for recording digital audio, but it's mainly just two channels of acoustic guitar into Audition and adding some EQ and effects. See system 1 listed in my sig file for details of what's in it. Bear in mind that it's a year old ...

My daughter fell asleep so I got to nip up to the den and try the drives again. I guess I must have not put the IDE cable in securely the first time as it did POST and told me there was no OS. Both drives show up in the BIOS and are actually making enough noise now for me to know that they work. Mor...

Just to make shure we talk about the same when we are talking about POST-ing: You mean when you connect only the two HD's, you don't see the memory counter (or fancy splash screen) and can't get into the BIOS? Yes, exactly that. If that is the case you have a hardware problem. Oh dear. I'll have to...

Just a quick question -- do I have to do anything to the two drives before I attempt to install Linux? As I said, the system doesn't POST with just these two drives installed so I get the feeling that I need to format them or something first. I will plough through the Linux guides but a quick glance...

Installed Samsung V120CE (IDE 250GB, 5,400RPM, 3.5")

I spent the day suspending the drive cage in what is to be my file server. I have two 250GB Samsung V120CE drives installed and, with your help, I can get them up and running hopefully! Firstly, I had only those two drives installed, both as masters on seperate IDE channels. Switched on the power an...

Very nice system. The cabling in my P-150 is not quite as neat as yours, but it is as messy on the off-side! It is a lot better than it was in my old GMC case.

Thanks for posting.

Just a quick Q: what difference does removing the rear fan grill make to noise and temps?

Undervolting a Gigabyte GA-8ITX

I have a Gigabyte GA-8ITX motherboard with a P4 Willamette 2.0GHz. According to CPU-Z, it's running at 1.68v and that seems a little high to me. However there are no voltage options in the BIOS and I was wondering if there was anything out there that would support this motherboard. Is 1.68v a bit hi...

Thanks for the help.
