Try to find one more test like that and you will se same pattern. But you will have very hard to find that type of test. You can find a lot of I/O performance test on servers. Also, GPU's hasn't been that fast so there hasn’t been any big problem. The only card that may have been able to saturate...

Here is one processor test that show how AMD performs better when the resolution gets higher or the game is more I/O intensive. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/intel_q9450/ That test is done with 8800GT. Faster cards will have more dramatic effects in favor of AMD. It's exactly the opposite...

I know this is probably too easy for a solution, but why not just buy Asus Eee PC 901 ultra portable laptop? My 'silent minimalist workstation' concept, that I may build if I have enough time, is detailed below: - case and PSU: Antec NSK 3480 with Fortron Zen 300, side vent blocked. - motherboard: A...

I thought this was pretty funny.

It's pretty sick concept. More then 3 meters of heatpipes in one cooler. That monster probably weighs 2 kilos.

There's no doubt in our minds that at 12V, the Noctua fan is much much noisier than the Nexus. We'll be happy to make a recording of both fans at the same time with the same mic in one recording. I don't think anyone questioned this? 33 dBA vs 22 dBA is quite noticeable to anyone. Hardly something ...

No it's not. It serves those who'd like to buy the best package (me) and it also serves those who buy their their compounds separately (you). Clearly a need for double test. Obviously it's also one of the reasons why they do a double test with fans.

"For continuity, we won't be using their thermal compound. We'll take their word for it." I disagree with this policy. Even a difference of 2 degrees would have moved NH-U12P past HR-01. Thermal compound is part of the package and you pay for just as you pay for the cooler and fan. Therefore it shou...

So will the ZM500, ZM600-HP, ZM750-HP and ZM850-HP stay as quiet at 400W load as the ZM1000-HP will ( as seen here )? I very much want that ultra-quiet at 100W higher load headroom. Or Zalman ZM850-HP, if the price is right in UK. Here it is 20€ more then Modu 625+ and 30€ more then HX620.

ZM1000-HP is the best power supply ever tested by SPCR.

Not sure if its enough airflow in the P182 :/ This is highly subjective. Some people have insane arbitrary temperature goals and thus need the best coolers and insane amounts of airflow. Some settle for stability and can run their computers quiet. It is certainly an issue if it cant keep components...

Hi, Anandtech report 500w under load for a system with 9800GTX SLI and QX9775 (3.2GHz quad core "penryn"). That is probably an AC power figure and 80% PSU efficiency would give 400w DC. SPCRs review of the HX620 put it at 29dB(A) at 407w DC output (487w input), admittedly the SPL went up a lot by 5...

Don't get HX620. Your rig is going to be close to 400-600W range loaded. HX620 is going to be screaming at 40 dBA at that load. You have 2 decent choices for such a rig. Zalman ZM1000-HP and Zalman ZM850-HP (my recommendation).
