Re: is Antec EarthWatt EA650 or HC Gamer a silent PSU?

I would love to use a 360W for my clients, as I'm an environmentalist, I don't want people to waste electricity. Although I am hoping that even if a PSU is 500W, as long as the sys. doesn't need it, it's not going to use 500W regardless. However, from a very basic motherboard from Gigatbyte w/ no PC...

Re: is Antec EarthWatt EA650 or HC Gamer a silent PSU?

be that as it may, it's too risky for me. I don't want the possibilities of my PSU shutting down. And as you know from the good old basic noise equation, your PC will have CPU cooling fan, and various system fan. So as long as your PC's PSU fan is at the same dB range as the other fan, then the tota...

it's not me who suggest it, it's the review We've played with things like this for a decade, and we are completely convinced that the airflow from any 80mm or larger diameter fan at even minimal speed provides many, many times greater cooling effect than convection in any PC using typical heatsinks....

Re: New Antec Case 193 or 280 (or 183 maybe)

EEB is the same size as E-ATX and the P193 supports E-ATX so its no surprise. There are also a lot of cases where some extended ATX motherboards will fit but not all - many E-ATX motherboards are not the full size of the specification. As we all know, EEB has different drill holes than E-ATX. So, I...

I forgot where I read this. But 1 of these silent pc forum was saying that for a case that has those foam, they'll wear out and after a few years, it won't be the way it is. As such, you want a silent case that doesn't use those foam, for e.g., an antec case. Are they right about it?

If it is an old (+5 yrs) passive PSU then you might expect it to require additional airflow. Modern passive PSUs produce so little heat that they do not need additional airflow and in addition it is not a good idea to blow a load of hot air into them . . what does a regular PSU do that a passive PS...
