I have the 6800nu, and it was the noisiest component in my PC. Temps never got above 54C and it only ever ran at 40%, but it was damn noisy still. I solved the problem by removing the platic shroud, stock fan and installed a 120mm over the large copper heatsink using tie-wraps. Not overly pretty, bu...

^^ BUMP ^^

Having seen the number of people on these forums using Nexus fans in an Antec SLK3000 (which is supplied with the Antec fan), I'd have thought that at least someone could have posted an opinion?

Come on people, speak up...

Yea, I'm talking about the PCI covers. Just pull them out? Are you sure that I don't have to bend anything to pull it out? It seems like it's stuck pretty hard. I found them quite hard to remove. I ended up using long nose pliers and had to bend them slightly to disengage where they were locking in...

Should I change my 120 fans to Nexus?

I'm running my Antec SLK3000 with 3 120's. The rear fan is the standard Antec that came with the case on the slowest setting (probably around 5V). The other 2 are ebuyer 99p cheapies (the black ones they don't sell anymore). One is at the front of the case, the other is strapped onto my "custom" 680...

Bearing in mind the grills on the SLK3000B are pretty open to begin with, it won't do that much for your temps cutting them out (perhaps 1C). If running at 12V, fan noise will be significantly reduced. If running at 5 or 7V, the difference will not really be noticeable.

That must be a majorly big board. The HD rack doesn't even come close to the board with my A7V600. As for the DVD drive, are you using all of the 5.25" bays? The top 2 shouldn't really come near the board, even with the older style "long" CD drives. Edit: The depth of the case (front to rear) for th...

Yeah - the grille in the side panel below the CPU duct for cooling the PCI cards & AGP card.

I've got a similar set up (except mine is the el-cheapo Zalman copy). The position of the CPU on my A7V600 is spot on for the duct - I can lower it right down till it almost touches the top of the fan. Temps are excellent - I ran my old (noisy) case with a mesh panel on the side. The 3000B with the ...

OK - don't worry. I found a thread by someone else who had did it already on an Ultra. Removed heatsink, then shroud. Removed stock fan and installed heatsink back on. I grafted a 120mm @ 5V using tie-wraps. Wow temps have dropped 3C at idle (haven't run it at load yet). Best bit is though, my PC is...

How to get cover off of Leadtek 6800nu?

Howdy folks. This is my first post at these forums, although I've been a regular at PCPerspective / AMD mb for a while now. The little fan on my Leadtek 6800nu (AGP version) is the loudest thing in my otherwise quiest system. I'd like to mod it to repace it with a larger fan used in a more conventi...
