Hi, Ive never seen a BTX case in the flesh, and though I've searched the web I've only found one case that used internal fans for case ventilation the way the PaQ case does. But I think that you're right that the BTX design exauasts the hot air from the output side of the CPU cooler straight out of ...

Hi Bluefront, Magnificent job. That link helps. Let me see if I have it right. Air comes in through the bootom and exits through the top and out the back. All the air used to cool the CPU goes out the back. If that's so, the top increases internal air pressure which helps cool the CPU. But if you cl...

Hi Bluefront, The results you post are convincing. The reasons you are getting them are more difficuklt to figure... I'm looking hard at those photos and trying to vizualize how the whole case is organized, how all the fans are positioned and how the airflow works. And failing.... any chance of some...

Hi, I have recently discovered exactly the same thing; and I also concluded that the principal effect was that the constiction was stalling the blades of the fan. My experiment was part of the development of a quiet case. It's close to production and I'm hoping Mike C. will accpet one for review onc...

Hi, You can get acrylic which has improved acoustic damping - it's made of two layers laminated together. The lamination changes the way the material distorts as sound passes through it. I'm not currently aware of anybody making cases out of this stuff though. Does the lack of RF shielding actually ...

Yes, the case will stand under the desk, but the wall is far away from the back of desk\case. As far as i know, i don't have the problem you mentioned (the ~10C temperature difference). And the exhaust air it's not even hot, just barely warm... In that case you should be OK, but I really suggest yo...

Hi, I understand the height problem, and there might be alternative designe there. But first the air mixing It depends wher this case will stand - under your desk with it's back to the wall by th sound of things. In my experience the hot air coming out of the back of a computer in that sort of setup...

Hi, The title says Looking for silence... again. Do you really mean that, or do you just mean quiet? For total silence the only solution I know of is to put a quiet computer in another room. With a well designed case and (say) a Seasonic S12 PSU you should be able to get to the point where the loude...

Hi, I think it's possible to make it simpler and more effective. The main problem I see is that you have air intakes and exhausts far too cles together, the hot aond cold air will mix heating up the intake air. The second problem is that I'm unconvinced by that muffler design. My suggestion is that ...

In series or in parallel?

Would that reduce noise for the same airflow?

Hi,

Interesting idea.

Are you saying the 38mm panaflo would create less noise for given airflow? If that generally true - all other factors being equal a thicker fan makes less noise for the same airflow?

Hi, thanks... I just tried the XP-120 and I did get it to fit. I now have the system running Prime 95 on both CPUs with the CPU fan at 1350rpm and the PSU fan at 900rpm. The XP-120 is acting as a sucker, like you suggested. I have it surrounded by a duct made of 1" thick acoustic NS-foam. This also ...

Cooling X2 on a Neo2

Hi Guys, Building a DAW for a musician who wants a powerful, silent, portable machine... Interesting challange. Best mobo looks like the Neo2, but the Asus A8V is also a runner. nF4 is incompatible with pro soundcards so there is not a lot oc choice here. CPU is X2 4600, with 3 x Seagate 200GB HD. A...
