MSI's passive GF 7600GT card

Does anyone know where I can find some reviews and/or pictures of this card?

It looks more elegant than ASUS's passive solution, but I can't see the back of the card and I'd like to know if the cooling is adequate. Maybe they could keep the size of the heatsink small because if its copper nature?..

Thanks! I read on the Anandtech forum that the -5V is used for onboard sound sometimes too. But my motherboard doesn't have ISA or sound, so I guess it should be fine.

When you get the PSU try it with your motherboard, it won't blow up, and report back - I'm in a similar situation. How do you know it won't blow up (or cause damage for that matter)? :D I changed my order from a 430 to a 500, and I'm still waiting for a reply. Could be another 2 weeks until I get t...

There's a Gigabyte 7600GT with Silent Pipe II just out I mailed Gigabyte about it. They told me those cards aren't for sale yet. They probably want their nvidia reference copies sold first. My local PC shop informed me that the new improved MSI 7600GT will be out around mid May. My guess is that's ...

New PSU on 5 year old motherboard?

I order a Seasonic S12-500 a few days back for a new system, but I'd like to wait a few more weeks for the rest of the parts until the passive 7600GTs come out. I'm currently using a 5 year old Abit KR7A motherboard with XP2000+. Would I be able to use the Seasonic with this board? The PSU I'm using...

Yup, I hope some reviews pop up soon. I read in another thread on this forum that "diver" was using a Zalman passive cooling on his 7600GT and it was doing well according to him. If he's right, then at least it can be done. Even if the completely passive versions get too hot, there's always that new...

Nice! That's exactly what I wanted and now it's there! :o
Thanks for the info guys, I almost bought one of those nvidia reference design versions. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer for a new PC. :D

Passively cooled 7600GT cards available (seems to be)

I came across this picture of the MSI GF7600GT: http://www.msi.com.tw/images/product_img/vga_img/NX7600GT-T2D256E.jpg I went to their website and it seems they updated their previous picture on the 7600GT page of the card with this new one, including a red PCB version. It looks like this red card ha...

TomZ wrote: Yes, the S12's have just a single 12V rail. Mike's review found this, and Seasonic confirmed this to me when I asked them that question by e-mail.
Hm, don't see anything of it mentioned in the review on PCRV though. :?

Anyway, thanks for all the replies guys! My decision has been made. :)

Sorry, I should have said it differently. Maybe something like "IF a PSU has two rails with real limits, then the labeled limits depend on quality control (margin for fluctuations in voltage etc) and testing conditions (temperature etc)" would be more accurate? Anyway I'm not an expert, I'm just int...

That's not entirely true, read this thread to get a better understanding of the dual 12V-line PSUs. I assume you are refering to: Generally, up to 20A is available on any one 12V line assuming the total 12V current capacity of the PSU is not exceed. I've been explained by JonnyGURU at the Anandtech...

Thanks for all the replies so far! The sound recordings are taken at 3". The sound measurements are taken from a distance of 1m. Ooh, haha..thanks! Now I get it. :) You can actually get away with the S12 330 with your current setup. To "future proof" yourself you can just get the S12 430. The S12 50...

Question before buying a Seasonic S12 Power Supply

Hello guys, After reading those reviews on the S12 series here on SPCR, I decided to get a S12 PSU for my system-to-build. I'm leaning towards the 500W model to be somewhat future proof, although my system "might" only need the 430W (better safe than sorry). Anway, if I'm not mistaken there are a fe...
