Of course with that said, the p5b-e will allow a higher and more stable overclock then the p5b vanilla. Apparently not, in my case. IAC, it's fairly simple to OC the p5b-e, but I'm finding it difficult to figure out if my issues are mobo related or memory... or something else. I think it should run...

Asus P5B-E, E6400, Patriot 2MB DDR-800
aristide1,

You have a very similar system to mine (except I think you mean 2Gb, not 2Mb DDR2 ram). What sort of settings and performance are you getting? What sort of temps are you seeing?

I haven't seen any control for the NB voltage. At least, not that I recognize. Aristide1 thinks cooling may be an issue with increased voltage on the NB. I almost sent the P5B-E back for the P5B Deluxe (when I found I'd received version 1.01g instead of 1.02g), but got busy and didn't get it done wi...

Hey Steve, What settings have you settled on? FSB 350? Are you running the same rig as I am? I'm currently running: FSB-333 Divider 533 Vdimm 2.1 Vcore - auto (not seeing over 1.39v on Speedfan). CPU-Z reports voltage between 1.05v and 1.392v. 4-4-4-12 Seems stable at the above settings. Orthos runs...

Ben, I also have the Noctua NH-U12F but with one stock Noctua 120mm fan blowing through the HS towards my Antec Tri-Cool 120mm fan running at mid setting. Also running C2D E6600. I used Arctic Silver CMQ-22G (Ceramique) as the TIM. I see you are moderately OC'd. Speedfan 4.32 reports: CPU - 32*C cor...

angelkiller, I was planning to suspend my 3 drives when I built my C2D in the Antec Solo. During the build, I decided to mount the drives in the cages and see how well the silicon grommets work. I cannot hear them. I tried defragging each drive, still cannot hear them. Maybe I'm not as sensitive to ...

How about trying to just leave your SPD enabled. I think if you are at 400mhz 1:1, the SPD programming should be fine. Maybe later we can work on timings. But until then, lets try SPD enabled. Try this with Vcore of 1.425 and lets see if it works. No joy. It won't post and I have to recover via CPR...

memory tab in CPU-Z what DDR-speed does it show My version of CPU-Z is 1.39. Memory tab doesn't show speed, per se, but lists freq (FSB) as 349.8 and FSB:Dram as 1:1 and 5-5-5-15-2T Under the SPD tab, Freq is 400 MHz, and it shows 4-4-4-12, Trc=22, Command rate=2T. what are your Vdimm and Vcore voltages like? I changed the memory from auto to 2.1 (max on the 1.01g board). Otherwise, the voltages are on auto. I also changed the FSB to 404 and 401 and still got a BSOD. It booted with the FSB at 350, but Orthos stops at Test 2 with a hardware failure. I have mem...

Yeah, you may be right. But I thought it worth trying. Thus far, TAT is the only thing I haven't been able to run. But I haven't tried a broad range of programs yet either.

I'm considering going back to V/32 for now.

I have much to learn about Vista.

To follow up, I uninstalled the ethernet controller from device manager and rescanned for HW changes. This time Vista picked up the new device and loaded the driver from the Asus software CD.

Now I'm finding that TAT won't run under Vista/64.

Before blowing away the 64bit OS, I uninstalled the ethernet controller and refreshed the device manager. This time, it found the driver and installed it from the Asus CD.

I guess I can expect lots of surprises with this box and Vista.

Thanks for the link. May come in handy yet.
