Zune 30GB freezing?

http://hothardware.com/News/30GB-Zunes-Globally-Freeze-Leap-Year-Bug/ Just wanted to get an idea how widespread this issue is. My brother's Zune 30GB is affected (freezes on the boot screen). His has the 3.1 firmware installed. My own Zune 8GB (2nd generation, firmware 3.1) is not affected. If you ...

The Noctua fans you showed work well in open air, but have problems with more restricted airflow - they do not push very much air, and some report that their Noctuas have a whining noise. Plus, the Noctua fans are much more expensive than the Slipstream fans. I would go with the Slipstream. Noctua d...

I can't say for certain unless you tell me your entire power configuration, but your current power supply should be more than sufficient. My friend's dual-GPU, overclocked E8400 rig only uses 390W peak, so you should have plenty of headroom.

As has been said before, all else being equal there is no difference in quality between HDMI and DVI - they're both digital signals.

What good timing! MikeC just put up an article about your proposed Power Supply. It's still too early to tell about reliability, but he was pleased enough with it. I still wouldn't go for it because it commands too much of a price premium over similarly-powered, fanned units.

Definitely the HR-01+. The wider fin spacing allows one to use a lower-aiflow (quieter) fan. Pairing the 01+ with a 500rpm Scythe Slipstream fan will make it extremely quiet, while keeping your processor sufficiently cool. Also, are you sure about your case fan selection? No fan is going to be very ...

I really love my Spinpoint F1 1GB. It's not as quiet as the GP drives and there is a slight high-pitched whine, but the whine is very quiet and when soft-mounted seeks are almost unhearable. Its performance is miles above the GP drive, though. So I'd go with GP if you wanted absolute silence, and th...

VF1000 Fan Swap

I'm surprised that a thread about this hasn't already popped up... I have a Zalman VF1000 on a stock HIS Radeon HD4850. Temperatures are very good (60C load), but even at 5v the fan's a little too noisy for my tastes. I'm really hoping to put an 80mm Scythe Kama Flex Fan (FDB) in the place of the st...

It could also be that the folding program requires CUDA support, and the GPU inside the PS3 is based on the GeForce 7 architecture, which doesn't support CUDA.

That PS will be perfectly fine running the E8400 and 4870. It should also be sufficient to run the 4850 CF configuration.

My system with an E6750 O/C to 3.2GHz and a single 4850 takes about 240W full load, so that leaves a good 150W of headroom.

Radeon 4850 Experiences and Questions

Hello everybody, Just a little background. I have a pretty decent gaming computer centered around a Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 3.2GHz. For the past year I had an XFX 8800GTS 512 video card, but as money got tight I sold it. When I was ready to buy another video card, I bought a Radeon 4850 from HIS (stock d...

All that really matters is that your processor doesn't go above around 71C during load. Have you done a stress test while your computer was closed up? Also, if you want the best stress tester, I would download Orthos 2004 . This will give you worst-case scenario temperatures. If you run it, Set it t...

If these roadmaps are to be believed, then it looks like all the initial Core i7 chips will have a 130W TDP. I'm hoping that this is a really big exaggeration like with the E8x00 series, which is rated at 65W but usually uses no more than 35W. At any rate, the 130W TDP applies to the "Bloomfield" ch...
