Interesting. I thought 45db was already very loud? It's apparently just "somewhat" audible.Tom's Loud Hardware wrote:Table 1: Sound levels as humans perceive them

I don't consider myself at all experienced in overclocking - therefore, I didn't mess around too much. Here is what I'm at so far however: P35-DS3R + Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme / S-FLEX SFF21E Q6600 Ballistix PC2-6400 8x400 (3.2GHz) RAM @ DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 - 1.8v I think I lowered the Vcore some...

I wonder what he would do to contribute to spcr.

I was considering buying a Corsair 620HX, but now I don't know if it's worth the bother... :? It probably is. My 520HX was behaving quite oddly yesterday when I first bought it. I decided to first test it out to see how quiet it is...shorted the power on cable. Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick......

Re: P182 - Stock Fans? And Fan Recomend for Ultra 120
I just ordered a P182 case to use with a new q6600, Ultra 120 extreme, a fanless video card, and a Corsair 450 PSU. No overclocking. I need to order a couple of fans for the Ultra 120. I am wondering whether I should also order case fans to replace the stock Antec fans. I'm leaning towards the 1200...

Ordered! Thank you everyone that posted (and everyone that didn't but made contributions to SPCR). Of course, I can't really conform to everyone's suggestions, but thanks for everyone's input. Hopefully I can report my successes soon in the General Gallery! 8) Final Specs: Antec P182 Corsair CMPSU-...

I'm recommending the regular ninja (Ninja Plus Rev. B). Since you aren't overclocking very much, you can run it fanless with decent airflow, or with a nexus 120mm fan. As for the 7900GS, reviews on newegg are not of the same caliber as on spcr. Basically, any video cards with those mini fans are too...

Re: New Superbad System Build - $1,200 ceiling
Antec SOLO Quiet Mid Tower great. GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3R great. BFG Tech BFGR79256GSOCE GeForce 7900GS 256MB - known to be quiet, backed by a good company/warranty and has a decent rebate. known to be quiet from what source? CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX 520W - Seems to be the PSU of choice at the moment. You ...

Looks like your memory rebate is no longer available. If you are not going to OC the Corsair 6400 has a good rebate at NCIX and will save you a little. I think the Corsair HX520 is a better choice: quieter and modular, room for upgrades. I have one I'm thinking of selling and I also have some Scyth...
