Im asking because i also made an nsk3480 build and i am appalled by the noise of the psu! It is so loud that i am now thinking about swapping it with a s12 430 or making a fan swap like you discribed. edit: my system is also an nsk 3480 with q6600 processor and ninja scythe :) Kreed's answer is a g...

My spacious Antec NSK3480 build

This build began as a replacement for my P180 build from one year ago. It was a very succesful adaptation of cmthomson's rig (thanks for the tips!) with no overclocking, one less fan and no ducting needed. It was very, very quiet, below ambient. The only downside to it was the size of the case. Some...

Does the PSU itself power up fine without a motherboard or with some other board, if you are able to check? To start an ATX power supply by itself, connect the pins 15 and 16 (IIRC), that is, connect the green wire to a black (ground). My stock Earthwatts started up fine like that. If yours doesn't,...

I find that hard to believe. Try booting without the hard drives plugged in to reduce the load. If it still doesn't boot, I guess it has to be some weird incompatibility. My Earhwatts 380W runs a system with Gigabyte G33M-DS2R with an E6600 and 4 GB of memory, 500GB Samsung T166, a Samsung SH-S183A ...

The water should not be boiled because then it releases oxygen - they say the taste becomes flat. Apparently the oxygen helps in extracting flavour from the leaves. So, remove the heat immediately when the boiling starts and pour it on the leaves or teabag. Hotter water brews the tea faster - long b...

Do you mean the "Intel Thermally Advantaged Chassis" vent in the side panel? I got rid of that by swapping the side panels with each other in my NSK3480 - now it's on the right side (looking from the front) and the former right panel is on the left. Now there's no chance of an airflow short circuit ...

My setup has two monitors normally connected with DVI and currently a TV that I need to connect with component cables (YPbPr). My GF 7600GS supports all that, but naturally only two displays at a time, so I need a second card with either DVI or component output to have them all working without havin...

Well, good news for you: I added a Silicon Image ADD2 card (the attached very thin manual branded it as an ASUS and for 915G chipsets, but it doesn't matter) and it works if plugged in to the primary PCIe x16 slot. I didn't boot up all the way to Windows but it worked as expected in bios screens. Ba...

I would hate to have a fan ducted as described, and have it not turn on because of too big a time delay for the heat to get from the CPU sink to the motherboard sensor for the case fan. The CPU would have been throttling long before the system temperature increased that much. One would need to do s...

I will find out soon. I ordered an ADD2 card and I am expecting it tomorrow. The product details only mentioned an old chipset, the 915G, but if it is basically just an SVDO chip I think it is supposed to work with any Intel GMA version - Intel's page on ADD2 cards simply listed old and recent chips...

One fan may indeed be louder than two slower fans, as the only fan will have to work harder to exhaust all the heat. I just built my NSK3480 system with a G33M-DS2R, E6600 and a Ninja and I used two Nexus 120mm fans. I haven't yet really tested what would really happen if one of the fans was stopped...

Nice to see new thinking on the shapes of heatsinks. Though in this case the execution faltered, perhaps due to non-engineer types being involved in the design of a component where form should follow function...

Indeed, it appears both headers are controllable. Just change the Advanced setting for PWM 1 and 2 from 'SmartGuardian' (I guess this would be BIOS) to 'Software controlled'. Check "Remember it" to make speedfan use the setting later as well and not just for testing until shutdown. The bios controll...

I hope this helps. W.J. 'Bill' Clinton was booed when he ordered military action abroad. "View newest post" links not working on Opera

The links that should take you to the first unread post you have in a thread (hm, not quite "newest post" as the link is named) do not work in Opera 9. For some reason the server doesn't return a URL with an anchor tag in it for Opera when you request a thread with /viewtopic.php?t=xxx&view=newest. ...

Most probably any trouble you could have are due to the TV not supporting input in 1366x768 resolution, perhaps only accepting 1280x720 or 1280x768 (or even 1024x768!). These things are tricky, since TV manufacturers don't seem to care. You need to do some thorough research on the model you are plan...
