ok, that's what I'd do anyway, I gave up on 3.5" disks a few years ago. http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=454584&highlight=#454584 Did you notice that this is the first upright tower-type case that officially supports mounting 2.5" disks? And 2mm thick side panels just in case you...

Re: Try SyncBack

... FWIW, consider putting the second drive in a separate enclosure, at least USB or eSATA attached, but preferably on the network in a different room. The key to good backups is completely separate copies, and RAID is definitely NOT a backup. The nice thing about NAS-attached backups is that they ...

Those 3 bays are unusable with the fan assembly in place, that seems like a lot of wasted space. It's a daring layout though. I wonder who designs his stuff, the 343B modular cube is designed by a group in Norway.

Lian-Li B10

What is Lian-Li doing here? There is a one-piece assembly in the mid-section, inserted through the front, with a 12cm fan: http://lian-li.com/v2/tw/product/upload/image/B10/pc-b10-04.jpg and from the inside it looks like this: http://lian-li.com/v2/tw/product/upload/image/B10/pc-b10-18.jpg But, what...

ditto on robocopy....

MS robocopy is powerful stuff and it's free. Mine runs at night with windows' scheduler (I have no idea if my ubuntu has a scheduler). My 2nd disk is ready to use any time so there's nothing to restore in case your 1st disk fails, in fact I boot it whenever I want to try out new software or experime...

Thanks for calculating power consumption, very important stuff. The trend toward high-energy usage is making me stay away from the new GPUs. Why can't they make a powerful video card that uses very little energy at idle? Like C&Q for video. I know they have "hybrid" but it relies on OS software, eas...

I've been contemplating the same (original) question for some time. There are a few things to realise: 1. All cooling is air cooling. The differences lies in how heat is transferred to the air. Today it's mostly water vs heat pipes. 2. Water cooling can be substantially more quiet. The cost is mone...

DDR3 "kit-of-3"

Is there a difference between Intel and AMD on DDR3 implementation? I notice they're selling "triple-channel" memory. Do you need a DDR3 kit of 3 sticks for triple-channel memory? Where do you put them if there are only 4 slots on the mobo?

I've got the WD3200BEKT in my netbook, and it doesn't get read speeds anywhere NEAR that fast. Heck, my RAID0 arrays in my workstation and desktop at home barely beat thost measurements. Your access times are simply too low for a 7200RPM drive. That reading should be at least 8ms for both drives. H...
