That's certainly feasible, but it doesn't seem very economical. The prices that a fan company would charge end-users for something like this would be astronomical.

Some around here would say that it's more economical to not use a fan at all... :)

You'll have to find an aftermarket fan controller or manually modify the voltage on the fans. Here's an excellent guide for the latter: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article6-page1.html ...or if you're not that brave you can look through the small list of fan controllers in the rest of the Fans & Co...

That's the P180b...for black, I suppose. It's identical in every way to the P182, save the color. That's what almost everyone sells these days, so you can pretty much rest assured that you'll be getting, essentially, a black P182.

I'm running an E6750 @ 3.5Ghz with an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, a heatsink that is generally inferior to the HR-01. I'm also using Arctic Silver 5, but my cores never go above 55, even under a heavy load. You MAY want to double check your setup, my friend.

Look around here: http://www.meritline.com/cd-dvd-wallet- ... lders.html

They have all kinds of binders/wallets, including a great selection of hard cases.

Edit: Nevermind...I'll leave that link up for anyone else who might have the same problem.

Even soft-mounted they're obscenely loud. I had a 320gb 7200.11 suspended in the lower chamber of a p180 and it was annoyingly audible from around 15' away. I won't even start on the seek noises. Horrible.

Loudest Components

I looked around and I couldn't find a thread covering loud components, so I thought I'd start one up. Feel free to post parts that you've found to be particularly loud, so that the rest of us can avoid them. Personally I'd say to avoid most newer Seagate HDDs and the smaller Yate Loon Fans. And ANY ...

Sounds good to me too. And another vote for the Solo. That video card is supposedly very hot, so you may need more than just the passive coolling. You may want to have a look at this: http://shop3.frys.com/product/5706532 It'll save you some money...of course that money will probably have to go back...

Any higher capacity 2.5" drive would probably fit your needs. I've heard that the Western Digital Scorpio line of drives are very quiet and very cool. Check SPCR's hard drive charts. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article29-page2.html EDIT: Also, the Hitachi Travelstar drives are probably the lowest ...

I'd have to agree. I wouldn't want to take my chances with a hard drive. I'd rather pay the extra $20 for the added security, warranty, peace of mind, etc.

Refurbished HDD

Is it safe to purchase a refurbished HDD? I mean, of course it's perfectly SAFE, but is it a practical decision from a silent point of view? It seems to me that a refurbished drive may be more prone to nondescript rattles and seek noises. I suppose it's inconsistent, as hard drives come in many shap...

SOLD...even though it was crap

This power supply is brand new, but not in the original box. It comes with all of the original cables. It is in perfect working condition, guaranteed. A number of reviews show it to be at least 80% efficient on regular load, though it isn't 80 Plus certified. Some quick copy-n-paste facts: # Low Aco...
