There is a lot of information hereabout the causes of speaker hum.
In my case it was caused by taping the power and signal cables together.

Given the current 5 petaflops of computation working on folding, I worked out that it would take roughly one thousand million, billion, billion years to go through all the possible permutations. Given that the age of the universe is only of the order of 14 billion years, I feel that an incredible s...

Re: going down the right path

You're making progress. I like the WD EARS drives a lot, very quiet, and fast enough for me, just make sure you align the partitions on 4K boundaries, and turn off the hard parking "feature". -joe Sorry to butt in on your thread but some questions re the WD EARS- What is this hard parking "feature"...

S12II Bronze - i can talk only about the 330W version, it is not the quietest PSU, the fan is a bit more noisy than the Enermax Modu82, but it is acceptable. And considering that nhwynter has a Velociraptor and 2 cards in SLI, i guess it won't be noticeable in nhwynter's PC. The reason I went for t...

Thanks for the correction on the SLI cards. You are correct that the Site I looked at had the power under load for the SYSTEM. So I have changed the total load. And now am totally confused because I had an HEC 585W PSU and it couldn't provide enough juice (supposedly) to run my System in SLI. Yet t...

I am not saying that all these things are the underlying cause of 9/11, but they had to have happened in order for events to unfold they way they did. That is absurd reasoning. Unfortunately when at war one has to accept that you will take some casualties as well as inflicting them on the enemy. 9-11 was a price paid for protecting strategic assets in the Middle East. Theory in figures, supposedly at max load. Heat load case = 200 W Heat load PSU = 50 W (excess heat at 80% efficiency providing 200 W to system) Case temp = 38 deg C (as per Intel's P4 spec, 478 pin - old, I know) PSU temp = 43 deg C (gleaned from ATX 12.2 spec, can be discussed) Ambient temp = 23 ...
