Re: Lian Li PC-Q10 Mini-ITX Case

I did read that part, which I said "gpu heat move else where", hence the not "fair". The gpu heat output is directly correlate to gpu fan noise, which tends to be the most important factor for noise in a load test. Adding cpu power draw does not compensate for a less hot gpu. (I.e you don't even nee...

Re: Lian Li PC-Q10 Mini-ITX Case

Hmm, not really a fair test tbh. Ultimately the loudest component is gpu fan, when you shift the gpu heat elsewhere, everything just ain't apple to apple anymore. The rest of the result show correlation with gpu rpm and spl. Except that: - the closest competitor, Bitfenix Prodigy, has it's gfx card...

How is the flex atx psu doing in term of noise?

Rest looks great tbh, just put in some fan control and you are done. Dual fan is excessive on most heatsink.

Re: Is 550W enough for i7 6700K + single GTX980Ti?

The Enermax is not especially known for being silent, it might not be ideal. The only problem I see with semi passive psu is that the fan speed is not user contrable You really would not want a user controllable PSU fan, it would then be possible for the PSU to overheat if the user did something si...

Re: Is 550W enough for i7 6700K + single GTX980Ti?

The only problem I see with semi passive psu is that the fan speed is not user contrable and may have some odd behavior(high min rpm, fan grill turbulance). I think it comes down to cost, 550w is fine for your load, if the fanless cost around the same as some good quality psu, I dont see why not. If...

Re: Best PASSIVE silent pc for casual gaming?

Passive mean you want a open flow case, and more importantly the top should be open.

GPU wise, I think a gpu with riser card making it mount horizontally, then slap a mk26 on it would be the best, least mod involved passive route as of today. Okay still too much work, then 750ti maybe?

If you are moving the cooling out of the room, you may aswell move the whole rig out of the room.

Normal dp cable go up to 15ft (w.o mentioning fiber) vs 15 ft of water hose/tube, easy choice imo.

Gt is a good rad fan, but at low rpm, it isn't that spectacular, so are other performance fans. At low rpm, the performance/noise difference between most fan become less.https://martinsliquidlab.wordpress.com/2010/11/04/120mm-fan-testing-on-an-mcr120-radiator-round-6-summary/ The gt does have a dist...

I think for asus board, you typically really want to use speedfan for silent, unless you run 100% pwm fan.

Any chance the check if lastest speedfan can controll the header on the addon card?

Btw, is ASUS still the only board manf that offer pwm/dc fan switching?

The gentle typhoon in open air is really good for airflow/noise but it is so hard to mount. A little unfortunate is that the 290 died after mounting the mk26 into first test. Not blaming the cooler seem like just bag luck. Gonna wait for rma. A little observation on the cooler. The mk26 is less gene...

Would cutting off the fan grill on the fsp 300w sfx help no?

I find the fan is rather loud, I "think" it is more of a turbulence noise. This is a really low load machine, a nas that idle 24/7. Can I let it go passive(cut a larger hole) with a the 120mm fan blowing at it. There is always pico psu, but that is extra cost and it may have a hard time powering all...

Fan pulling through resistance make unavodable bad noise?

I recently tried to add a pull fan(ty147a) to my macho hr 02 and the pull fan make significant worst sound in quality and quantity compare to the push fan. at low rpm (below 500) it is rather indistinguishable , but once rpm go higher, it easily surpassed the other fan. Also, pulling through grill/m...

Gpu fan is easy to control, msi afterburner, your own fan curve, unless the min rpm is too high for you. Hmm, seems like the case. They do sell gpu fan header to normal pwm header, but not the other way around. Psu can be easy/tough, there are passive and semi passive one, but they may whine. Or you...

The actual power consumption for the 5820k seem to be lowered than its tdp, though power consumption does not scale linearly with added vcore, so you are at the mercy of silicon lottery when ocing. At 3.5ghz, every 100mhz give you 2-3% performance increase, but when the voltage scaling go off, the t...
