I gotta say, those are fantastic temps; what's the ambient temp in Sydney right now? Low 20s? 21c at the moment. Temps seem almost too good to be true don't they. I've taken the overclock off and it's 40c full load. Maybe the temp monitor utilities haven't caught up yet? But it does "seem" to be co...

New info!

There is a pirated version of windows XP modified for a usb drive.

It looks like it has EWF (enhanced write filter) from windows XP Embedded. So ALL disk writes are redirected to ram.

So you may want to read up on EWF.

And no, I do not know where to get the above stuff :p

Back on topic !

Brian, windows doesn't work that way. It's not linux. I don't think it will ever chroot

Some other options.
1) Run windows of the CF, Set the temp directories and pagefile to the ramdisk.

2) Run linux off the CF. chroot. Then run windows in vmware off the ramdrive.

1. Am I wrong about being able to run two serially connected fans at 6V? Your correct. two identical fans in serial will be 6v each 2. Is there a reason why it would be a bad idea to use the motherboard connector for this (e.g. risk of damage to the MB)? I think that the MB fan headers have a max 1 ...

This drive is quieter than my 2504 in idle and seek.
But this has a weird intermittent whine/buzz that is very soft but totally unexplainable.
It's louder than idle hum but softer than the seek noise. inaudiable from more than a foot away so I've ignored it.

In Australian Dollars
20" imac, 2 gig ram, 500 gig hd = $3,568.99

My current x2 3800, same specs, w/dell 2405 screen, didn't cost nearly as much.
