Re: Seasonic power supplies (coil whine)

Just got Seasonic Fanless 400W Platinum. So my report. I live in an apartment, so it is not an anechoic chamber ever, although it is not noisy around either. I was testing it for a couple of days for now. Previously a had a rather quiet PC with more or less quiet components, but still clearly audib...

Interesting thing to note

So it is really hot in the UK right now, around 24 degrees C. I run my PC fanless except for my gpu which is always on 30% fan speed, but being a blower it doesn't affect the cpu. I noticed with an increase in ambient temp of 10 degrees the cpu was running 25 deg hotter (celcius). A toasty ish 65C a...

Re: Morpheus Cooler

The caveat for him is he is using a case with a pair of case fans at the bottom (I believe anyway, hard to tell?) where the PSU normally sits in most vertical mounted cases.

Morpheus Cooler

This looks relevant. 1080ti, 1000rpm fan speed in games (What he calls Silent profile) never goes above 60C. Whereas EVGA iCX cooler failed and thermally throttled after 10 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-9k5cRbrPU Question is how "silent" is 1000rpm on a pair of 120mm fans? Would a 1060 ...

Re: GTX 1070 Ti Review Compilation Thread

The problem here is a 1070ti is just £40 less than a 1080.

Though an evga 1070 ti silent FTW is the same price as the generic 1080 which won't be quiet which is something to think about...

Re: Fanless VGA Cards list -- a start!

Palit KalmX 1050ti is the highest Nvidia. Not high enough! You really need 1060 6GB even for 1080p.

Re: Convert ASUS DIRECTCU II to ASUS STRIX 0dB

Thank you for this (old) thread. I still have my Asus GTX 690 which is a pair of 2 680's on one board. At idle the fans won't go below 30% so I am looking to do the 0% mod. They run vapor chambers so it wouldn't be a problem. The problem is it may not work. At the moment I am using HD3000 graphics.....

Threads vs board index etc...confusing me.

So now I am running completely silent PC which is AWESOME but I had to quit PC Gaming, need to find a new hobby. I may upgrade to a 0db when silent but not 0db when gaming rig in the future but what I really want is something like a passive GTX 1060 6GB. I am hoping Palit will do this next gen card ...

Re: Wondering if there is a more silent build compared to

Well he says "silent build" but IIRC he has at least 4 fans running in that build. I can't stand any fans at all, if I am not hearing the fans I am hearing the airflow from them. But YMMV because everyone's hearing and perception is different. My current spec for silence is literally only one fan in...

Re: GTX 1080 Ti Review Compilation Thread

The problem with a 1070ti is for £50 more you can get a good 1080. (non Ti) Though having said that I have been looking and think the 1080 should be pretty silent, the TDP on max load is far lower than a 1080ti. Most people with a system for actual 4k use watercooling so no fans at all on the gfx, j...

Re: Passive cooled CPU and video card in miditower - only 3

Hi! I was going to sign up anyway but this is relevant so I thought I would do so to reply. I run a now ancient 2500k which has a 95W TDP , I ran it at 4.8ghz from a Noctua NH-D14 for 5 years, recently, priorities have changed and I require silence. Just FWIW, I have been running it at standard spee...
