I just built a new computer storage unit amd was concerned about my temps. My current temp is 40c is this normal? Should I be concerned? My current temp is about 37 oC, this is quite normal, I've got a bit of a headache but I'm probably a bit dehydrated. If your temp is 40 then you've got quite a f...

My DRU-500AX (same hardware I believe, 510 is just eh OEM version I think) is pretty quiet. During burning I can't really hear it above my case noise (not a very loud machine, but it;s not silent). With reading there is a slight woosh sound but it isn;t too bad. AFAIK these units have their reading ...

- mobo is a gigabyte 8knxp .... I think there is something bogus going on with sensors or something - there are 4 sensors appearing in MBM 5, 3 sensors are listed twice - once with a number, then the same number with ''diode'' after it. The fourth sensor is named differently, and has ''remote'' aft...

I have a P4 2.8 GHZ. BTW, how do i measure case temp? Its not the same as mobo temp, is it? thanks alan Usually it is the same. Actually from my experience they can be quite different - depends on mobo.. I have a Gigabyte GA-8IHXP and my mobo temp is reported by MBM as anywhere between 36 and 42 oC...

Re: Fan isolator size for Lian-Li 60

Hi, I've seen different sizes for those EAR fan isolators and I was wondering if anyone knows which ones fit a Lian-Li 60 case? Also, does anyone know of a place that's carrying them in the UK? Kustom PC says they have them, but they're out of stock. Thanks I'm just waiting for them to come back in...

DonP, take a look at the zalman 7000AlCu they're more silent than the thermaltake and perform similar. Thanks, but I really like the idea of putting my own fan on the HS.. a SLK-900U with a 92mm papst would be good.. but due to it's price I'm investigating the Alpha PAL8942t.. with a panaflo or a p...

could you use one of theses 3 pin reduction cables? If you are talking about the 10V cable I've found them to be pretty useless - hardly no difference at all. It's the cable I mention (three diodes in series) in my earlier post. The 7V cable on that page needs to plug into the 4pin molex - which yo...

Judging from your pics you might want to try and mount a second 80mm rear fan. I've got a PC-60, and the rear panel of the PC-6070 looks similar, so you may like to try this mod: http://www.virtual-hideout.net/articles/pc60_exhaust_mods/print.html Two things you should _definately_ do to improve you...

... but you could use one of the Zalman Fanmate regulators to control the voltage... This is an idea but, at least in the UK, these things are damn expensive (about 10 to 18 gbp, ~15 to ~27 USD, excl delivery).. If you have a PSU with two fans it could add 50% to the cost of the PSU. Non-variable a...

Re: How do you 5/7v a fan with only 2 wires (PSU)

Maybe a silly question but been looking on the forums and all the guides seem to assume you have 3 wires? My PSU has only 2 wires soldered to the board so how do you 5/7v them? The 5/7V fiddle only works when connecting to the four wire molex connectors which plug into your hard disk/CD/DVD. That c...

Since I don't have small children, and the cat seems to have learned, I don't feel the need for wire grill guards. Besides, those NMB fans can't do much damage anyway. Now if I was running a delta with those sharp blades... that could hurt. I thought like that for a bit too but then I realised that...

I have a Lian-Li PC60, fan noise from the front intake fans is not an issue for me, although I've got the variable fan switch on the lowest setting, 5v I assume? What's on the horizon for psv cool gfx and SapphireTech?

I've been following graphics cards recently and quiet solutions (ZM80A-HP).. I saw the "Ultimate edition" of the Sapphire Tech 9700 Pro , with the pre-installed passive cooler.. but I'm thinking more is to come now that the 9800 has been released and the 9600 on a 0.13 micron process. My front fans aren't necessarily my main noise culprits either, but the fans inside and my temps are higher than I want.. therefore I want to increase airflow... and to me it's shocking that the front grille blocks 70% of airflow! Yeah, I know, it would be uglier, and looks were part of the reason for buying this case. I've already cut out the stamped grille in the back and the result is much less heat going into the PSU (Antec TruPower 380W) and so the PSU fans run much slower and quietly (can't say for sure how quiet.. ATM ...

Cutting out front fan grilles (specifically Lian-Li PC60)

I've got a Lian-Li PC-60USB and I've done some math on the front grille.. In each grille there are 100 holes, each 4mm in diameter. That's 1256mm2 in total area.. An 80 mm dia. hole (less the 35mm dia core of a fan) would have an area of 4064 mm2. Therefore only about 30.5 percent of the possible ar...
