Re: SS-301HT: a pictorial

Of course the penny pinchers at my bank charged another €8,- for an international money transfer. Ha, be happy that it was only that - last time I attempted an international money transfer I was charged 20 GBP (~30Eur). And that wasn't a function of the amount transferred. Tibors, or anyone else, c...

Thanks Tibors, that's a great idea. I actually thought of it just after I'd posted the above message - having a look down the side of the HS it looks like it could work - the heatpipes will block some of the airflow but I reckon it'll work just fine. For ref you can kinda see pics here , here , here...

To check if it's your Maxtor then in Windows instead of doing a "power off", do a "standby". This should power down the hard disk but leave all fans (and PSU) on.

Ducting, AK77-600 PCI/AGP clk and PSU

Guys and Gals, I'm looking into throwing together a quiet server type box (DHCP,DNS,NFS,Samba, squid,VPN,maybe IP QoS). I'm looking into using an SLK3000B and was hoping to use a lower power (cheap and quiet) PSU - specifically the Nexus NX-3000 since it's very cheap , I've used one before and I like...

Has anyone seen any 2400+ 1.35V XP-Ms?
Must be mobile, must be 1.35V.
www.cpucity.co.uk used to stock them but they don;t any more. They do have 2500+ 1.45V jobbies though.

I was going to go for an HT-101 in my HTPC but it wouldn;t fit my case (Coolermaster ATC-620) - a DP-102 works absolutely great though.
Current temps on a fully loaded XP-M 2400+ 1.35V is 34oC CPU - but it is quite cold around the case... but I don't remember the CPU ever going over 40oC.

Now, I've decided to get one of the 5400rpm 3.5" Samsung drives. However, you can't get them in the UK anymore. So I'm going to get one from Germany which seems to have plenty. The PSU I have is the one I mentioned in another thread that I don't entirely trust, but still I didn't expect numbers like I'm getting, as I'm about to discuss. I'm not sure how familiar most of you are will Linux, but there's a tool to read diodes similiar to MBM called lm_sensors. Like MBM it ca...

Re: Low Power system with Athlon Mobile CPU

I'll need integrated video plus an AGP slot so I can support dual monitors. Just had a thought - if you only need two heads on the computer then get a graphics card with two outputs - then you won't need onboard graphics and you will have at least more than one board to choose from. I've never used...

Re: Low Power system with Athlon Mobile CPU

Now I need a mATX motherboard that will allow me to take advantage of the power saving features of the Mobile chip. I'll need integrated video plus an AGP slot so I can support dual monitors. I also prefer decent integrated audio to keep the cost down and to keep the case from getting too crowded. ...

AMD bought the Geode processor designs from SGS-Thomson (I think!!). They're for low power embedded applications. Stick em together with another chip and they're pretty much a complete PC. Whether you should use it all depends on your application. They'd be good in a wireless/wired standalone MP3 pl...

See if you can find anything about the Soltek SL-75MIV2. I saw something about it undervolting so it should have the ability to overclock. I'm loving my SL-75MIV2-L. Only minor gripe is that a 80x25 fan won't easily fit on a DP-102 (with fan next to DIMMs). Check out my post here for the adjustment...

Maybe an aftermarket fanless heatsink will work? One of the zalmans ma...

Re: decrease noise and dust at its source; Ventilation...

Completely isolating the case would cause a huge reduction in noise and dust. Plus no grille cutting, intake modding or ventillation mods would ever have to be attempted again. Nice idea if you can afford it.. but what do you plan to do about the PSU? Having a single fan PSU would break your "no ho...
