Re: Seasonic M12D 850w whine/buzz - need a new power supply

Even with the Kingwin LZP-1000 imported from the US, the price would be about the same as the Seasonic XP-1000.
And the Kingwin LZP-1000 is definitely silent/quiet, but the Seasonic is still an unknown - not reviewed here yet :(

Re: Seasonic M12D 850w whine/buzz - need a new power supply

Do you think a fanless 460-550w power supply is enough to run this system at 4.4-4.5 ghz? I have a GTX 570 as well No. To get to 4.4-4.5GHz, your are overvolting the CPU...and based on various reviews, this adds another 100W (!). Seems like most reviews found ~200W AC load when running CPU only tes...

Seasonic M12D 850w whine/buzz - need a new power supply

Ok since I've installed a new system into my FT02, Asus P9X79 with 3930k overclocked to 4.4ghz with a Noctua NH-D14 Se2011 (has PWM fans) I've been hearing this whine buzz under full load, rendering and Prime from a metre away, which can be heard over the fans at low speeds. I traced it back to the ...

Re: Fortress FT02 Original 180mm fan vs New AP181

Based on reviews here it would be louder than the older fans, but that could be just the controller voltages.

Scythe Kaze Server fan controller - does it buzz?

Just wondering if this fan controller creates any buzzing?

If it does is there any other fan controllers that have semi-auto fan control that don't?
Any that can also work with PWM fans?

thanks

Re: SilverStone Fortress FT02 Revisited

Have you tried connecting the fans directly to the motherboard? Apparently they run at minimum speed that way. Yes, that's how I'm running them now, but without Fan mate they sit at 680RPM, as per default LOW speed setting, and the Hi switch works, and bumps it up way high since it gets the full 12...

Re: SilverStone Fortress FT02 Revisited

I have the original FT02 and the case fans on low have a bit of a low frequency rumble - even when standing a few metres away. They run at around 680rpm when connected to Bitfenix 3 into on 1 fan splitter cable into the motherboard Chassis fan header But once you plumb in a Zalman Fan mate and and d...

Re: AAM/APM for Seagate Barracuda 3T (ST3000DM001) 3-platter

I bought a 3TB Seagate last week and it was chirping quite frequently. I upgraded to the latest firmware today, and haven't heard a chirp in the last hour. What I did hear was a kind of a juddering sound from a cold boot, and then once in a while at a fairly long intervals when the drive is idle. My...

Re: New Seagate Barracuda 2TB or 3TB? (ST3000DM001)

Well I just installed the new firmware It wouldn't work from windows, so I downloaded and burned the ISO version to a CDRW - hate wasting a full CD just for a 40meg install! :) And it went without a hitch, didn't wipe any of my files on the HD So far so good, I haven't heard a "chirp" yet! --- Suspe...

Re: Disappointing performances from Scythe

OP - I felt the same way, there was a buzzing/ticking/pulsing with all my fans, Noctua, Slipstream and the FT02 180mm case fans when controlled by the touch screen NZXT fan controller - no PWM here. Then today I decided to run them all off the motherboard fan headers - then near silence! All of them...

Every fan I've had there from Slipstreams to Noctuas at 5-6v is noisey!! Might be the the fact they are facing upwards instead of sideways etc I know that the SlipStreams that they can be very quiet. Perhaps you just chose a high rpm fan that would not run quietly at 5-6 V. I've had the same experi...

Also how the 5.25inch drive bay things overhang that side of the motherboard. Just an inch more space would have been nice

Thumb screws for the PCI slot covers would be nice too

Re: Replace Silverstone FT-02?

I take back what I said, it seems the fan controller was causing all the whining and electronic noise? Because it is much quieter now I plugged all the CPU and system fans that directly into the motherboard and it to control the fans based on tempertaure! So stay away from the NZXT touch screen fan ...

Re: Replace Silverstone FT-02?

3 intake fans! That's liekly to cause a lot of turbulence no? It is a positive pressure case. Well I can selectively turn off each fan with my fan controller. And it helps a bit. But those bottom fans help the CPU/Heatsink a lot more than you would think. In fact due to the design and me using a No...

The finished result - one twist before inserting a drive or 2 twists for SSD - quite secure due to the greater width of these bands, won't flop or move around. Easier to install and mount the HD vs the factory solution as well 8) CCJ_FT02_Drive_Suspension_63.jpg But in the end I just plugged the SSD...

I had some pics of how I did it, but accidently deleted them :( Will try and get some new ones done soon I basically used wider and flat style elastic of about 12-13 inches in length, and lopped it from the upper holes to the lower ones and did a standard double cross knot - not to...

Re: A list of positive pressure cases?

What annoys you? The deep case design. Harder to place in the room, and a lot of cables from my Seasonic M12D power supply are bit of the short side to reach the front mounted drives. If they had tilted the design to be more vertical it would have worked better IMO - especially since the connection...

Low frequency resonance/ thrumming sound

The low frequency thrumming in my FT02 case is killing me!! I've turned off the fans or run them at very low speeds, and the throbbing sound continues. I guess it's from the HDs I presume? Re: A list of positive pressure cases?

Ok let me clarify  What cases have a similar vertical venting deisgn of the FT02? I find this very effecient when combined with positive pressure. Infact I dont really need to turn on the top fan, which creates the most noise - even the Scythe Sliptreams at 5-6v makes too much noise - although...
