A fanless PSU is not going to do anything in that system with the stock CPU cooler and that Seagate drive. In any case, even a fanless PSU needs airflow so it will also depend on the case airflow.

What are you talking about? Do you have some kind of acid sweat that melts plastic when you touch it?

The unit is an ideal fit for the Antec cases where it sits in the bottom chamber with a *very* low rpm 120mm fan in front of it; no standard PSU on the market can get that quiet. Couldn't be happier with mine with regard to acoustics and performance.

All you have to do if you want to be sure is build a new RAID1 array and as part of the build of the array designate that you want to copy data from the designated master drive (which can be either drive) to the other.

On bootup hit delete and go into the BIOS. Pick the first option and then hit the right arrow to go into the fan control submenu. Enable all the fans and set them all to 8v at 30C and 12V at 50C. Once done, esc out until you get to the main BIOS screen and save and exit, hit Y and then it will reboo...

Your biggest problem isn't the case fans. The first thing you'll want to do is replace the CPU HS/Fan with something like a Ninja with a large 120mm fan and replace the HS/Fan on the video card with something passive or quiet. Then get some Zalman fanmates for all the fans in the system since uGuru,...

What a waste. I guess I should just be glad I picked up the copper unit with a proper mounting system when I had the chance. It's really a shame Scythe hasn't been able to build on their early success.

Check your e-mail if you're on the Newegg list, there a personal promo code for the drive where you can get it for $539 at Newegg (versus the $549 regular price now).

It's worth noting that the drive you paid $300 for in August was available in September for $100 and is still available for $100. Prices dropping that fast are a sure sign of buying on the bleeding edge. ... I also look forward to a follow up when you've had the Intel drive for a month or two and k...

I only see one failure, the OP. Am I missing something? The statement that one failure refutes is "They will *all* begin failing at write, and still allow reading off of them". It was clear from his post that he could not access data on that drive after the failure. I don't know that the post refut...

I just don't get something. If the controller on the SLC one does not have this problem then why don't thye just move that controller to the MLC drives. I have been with the understanding the the price difference between the SLC and MLC drives was due to the coast of the flash and not the controlle...

It would be my choice for future HTPC build, not that it would need a 450W PSU but silence is the key. It would even cut in a gaming rig but then again it's kind of wasted cash since there'll be other components making more noise than some of the quiet PSUs. Not really, if you select your component...

Anandtech is not an unbiased source. They take considerations (free product, advertising banner fees, inside info, etc) from Intel thus are often willing to repeat whatever the insiders at Intel tell them to say. People have been complaining on OCZ's official forum for months before the anandtech r...

Thanks for the civil tone of your latest reply. I can see where you'd be coming to this conclusion but it's pure coincidence that the V2 came out, it was frankly, more annoying than anything else, as I wouldn't want that one either, as it, from all reports, has the same issues as V1. To give you a b...

All I can say is that write speed issues with MLC flash have been known for years. Well before OCZ started selling SSDs. If you didn't know about it when you bought your first SSD then it may have been a harsh awakening but the truth was out there. You just need to open your eyes to it. Early adopt...

Re: Intel enters fray ...

Based on reports the Core V2 uses a different/updated JMicron controller and has, essentially, the same warts. So far, the only MLC anyone should touch is the Intel and even then it can't overcome what it is. In this case, the old adage proves true, you get what you pay for and in the case of the C...

I would not pass this one off as worthless. PCMark combines a series of tests that take into account many aspects of performance, and the SSDs kill the Velociraptor, most scoring twice as high. It seems to me that most SSDs would easily feel much faster than most HDDs for one simple reason: Random ...
