I read an article in Maximum PC not too long ago where they interviewed tech people from all the major hard drive players, it was pretty unanimous they thought round IDE cables were a bad idea.

"but how come the 3700 doesn't have those holes? "

Good point, hadn't considered that.

Nope, left 'em open, several people reported increased temps when blocking the holes. Leaving the 120mm on the "fan only" connector, using a Zalman 7000A Al-Cu with a fan mate, a passively cooled video card and the PSU (luckily) being very quiet, I don't see any reason to bother.

Hmmm, mine seems pretty quiet, in fact it is quiet enough that I was able to isolate all the other noise sources on my PC and eliminate those, I'm quite happy with my Sonata PSU, I really can't hear it unless the system is under heavy load.

Before I bought my Sonata I read as many reviews as I could find and there seemed to be a lot of misunderstanding of this case design, for instance one review went on at length about how the Antec logo holes stamped on each side of the case were an undue amount of advertising but he had no idea they...

"also have seen Liteon drives where if you open the tray door, you can see a ring of dust around the area where the front tray bezel comes to rest against the plastic faceplate. I assume that these are the larger dust particles that got trapped while air was being pulled into the drive around the tr...

I don't wanna' come off like someone ragging on ATI because there is no doubt they are the performance champs, but the main reason I ditched my Radeon 9000 and went back to nVidia was to avoid ATI drivers. nVidia fudges up drivers once in a while, but not as often as ATI.

Well, it's here and it's in. All I can say is wow! Install was fairly easy, I used the included thermal grease, never cared for all the warnings on AS and it doesn't do that much in my experience. It's amazingly quiet, but here's the funny part.. I haven't even turned it down to a lower voltage yet....

Yes, my BIOS has a fan throttling feature that I will disable, but it doesn't seem to enforce in low end on the RPMs as long as a fan is present on boot. I'm sure Active Monitor does, and as I have done before I will set it for a lower RPM, but everything appears to be working out pretty well. I cle...

I can't imagine the 7000 being too loud at 5v, and if it keeps my temps the same or a couple clicks lower then it is a bonus. I am kind of surprised at the higher temps I have been getting so far, but I have seen a few references around the web about recent batches of Celerons being a little hot run...

Well then thanks to all of them, thanks to you for taking the time to reply, and as an aside, I took your advice and ordered the Zalman 7000A AlCu from Newegg a few minutes ago. I don't feel like messing with it anymore so I'll just fix it. Now I have to go get some nail polish remover and some iso ...

Nope, no fan on the video card, just a large heat sink. I'll give the Fanmate a shot this weekend I think, even if I can just get it down to 7-9v and take the edge off the whine it will be more tolerable until I decide what to do about a better HSF. What did you use to get the Intel thermal gunk off...

Thanks for your reply, I probably will go with another heatsink soon, but for the short term, can you tell me more about your experience with the Fanmate? How low did you push the voltage, how much did temps climb, any caveats? How did BIOS repsond. Any information would be helpful.

Hi all, I have been combing the case and cooling forums here and found lots of good information, but I am at a decision crossroads (need to implement a fix this weekend) so I decided to post my specific issue and see what you all had to say. Just bought a Sonata to house my new system which includes...
