Sadly, no reviews out there, yet.
And another 10% off that if you go through Bing cashback... not shabby.

Interesting post as I find myself in a similar situation. So your 500w is fairly quiet? I think it's really quiet, and what noise it makes is pleasant - more of a whoosh than a buzz. That big fan is nice, compared to the 80mm fans I've used in the past. Kinda wish it was a straight-through cooling ...

OCZ ModXStream Pro

Just got one - my 2 Antec power supplies were getting flakey to the point of not being usable anymore (my NEO430 wouldn't power on 9/10 times due to low-amperage CPU, and my EA380 had a short or something in it - would cut out randomly, not worth tracking down). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product...

Undervolting == Yes!

Just popped in a Banias 1.7 GHz Pentium M into my wife's old Presario laptop - it had a Celeron M 1.4 GHz that was always revving the fan since it doesn't have SpeedStep - really annoying. Got a Banias for $20 shipped off eBay, brand new, undervolted with RMClock at .7v @ 600 MHz, an 1.084 @ 1.7 GHz...

That's what I thought. I realize that TDP is a black art / black box / whatever, and I'm sure they "batch" TDP the chips - the 2.4 GHz has the same TDP as the 1.6 GHz chips in a family, which doesn't make sense to me at all logically. Sounds like "worst case scenario" type of stuff.

TDP & CPU question

I'm considering getting a new (used) laptop. I've got a Pentium-M Banias Thinkpad, and it undervolts really nicely in RMClock - down to .8v @ 600 MHz or so. I'm considering getting an X60 or X60s - the only difference is the processor. An L2400 and a T2400. From Intel, the differences are: L2400 is ...

I'm converting an old C2D computer into a NAS, but the problem is it has no onboard graphics, so I need to find a cheap GPU to use. I just replaced my Neo HE recently after a few years of use. Over time, it developed a resistance to cold boots or reboots in general. Thanks for the advice. That certainly helps budget-wise, but isn't their a risk of instability when undervolting a processor? Are the X2's more stable than say the Intel equivalents when undervolted? Yes, there is, but in my experience, it's easier to test for than overclocking. You undervolt in .2...

Supposedly the Core i7 can acutally completely shut current off to most of its cores. They aren't idle; they are flat off.
