Conveniently, I just upgraded recently, so I can happily wait 'til the end of 2005 for a "new and improved" CPU, which I figure will be something akin to a Centrino, really :).

Currently contemplating switching down to a Pro, as the XT-versions of the card will not be available in the UK for another 2 weeks (at least).

ARGH.

REALLY not happy with the amount of XT GPU's ATI have produced (or lack thereof, namely).

More money (for Intel) is what they are after - obviously ;). Slightly off-topic, I know, but I have seen Intel's "new" Model #'s creeping up (I.e. A Pentium 4 550, 540, and whatever). I had a rant when AMD went to the 1800+ (and so on) ratings, in a marketing move to not look too bad in comparison ...

This is weird. I don't see how Northwood would be faster on either.

Interesting ... but weird (or, unexpected at any rate from where I am sitting) :).

Thanks :).

Interesting. It gave me an accuracy of 0%. Though I thought the whole point of Dvorak was to type faster, rather than on a "normal" keyboard sort of thing? Obviously, I see that the flaw in my argument is that your WPM will vary to mine, and so on, ad infinitum. So, we'd only be able to compare if w...

Just to add. The remaining 1% (my word for "rare") of ES's is actually with an UNLOCKED multiplier. These are VERY rare. I recall THG got their hands on it at one point (When Northwood came out?) - but don't expect to get those. A Multiplier limited ES already can be a pain to get ahold of for Joe S...

A few things on engineering samples. (1) Intel actually rather dislikes seeing them being sold - even on eBay. This is not something for you to be wary of, it's just a fact. ES's are given to reviewers and/or partners, for various purposes and are expressively meant NOT to be sold on. (2) To correct...

Reduction in Folding due to flood...

Had a bit of a flash-flood run through my flat. I've just returned in the nick of time to rescue precious hardware (the PC's) and switch off threatened electric circuits to prevent the worst. As is, the material damage (mine) is minimal. Floor needs replacing, but that's the landlord's concern. Just...

I need to run my Panaflo L1A at 12V (cooling the ThermalRight SP-94, which in turn cools a P4 3.4 C), if I'm folding / otherwise stressing the CPU to the max. Might be better in winter, as the temps are pretty high at the moment. Then again, hopefully, next week I should be able to replace the SP-94...

Nice review Mike. Excellence as standard :). Noticed a Spelling mistake thought - page 1. It is essentially a deeply-finned water-filled tube of extruded aluminum, with a...

It's quite amusing (annoying?) to note that ThermalRight don't have the XP-120 listed yet on their own site. It'd be nice if they'd give at least a few pointers on how the critter performs in the different positions... (they had a *-system for the SP-94 too after all...)
