Gerrok, a single 120mm can move plenty of air. But us noise conscious people would prefer multiple slow running 120mm's so you can can't hear them.

An analogy might be 1 person yelling, "FIRE!! Everybody out" vs some authority personel calmly directing people to the exits.

I've seen a few cases with room for 120mm up front and 80mm in the back. Personally, I like the option of running a slower quiet 120 in the back, and the front 120mm can run a bit faster to maintain positive pressure. I will use a rheostat, different fan models or thicknesses to control this. One of...

Ralph, Antec doesn't know how to put up decent pictures. Would you mind taking a few shots and posting them? To me, the sideways hard drive cage doesn't look like air would flow through it as well as a normal hard drive cage.

I own many rackmount cases in various sizes. General rule of thumb: the smaller the fans, the louder they are. If you are looking at a 4U, I suggest any case that has a 120mm fan up front. I have some of these: Evercase ECR9400B http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduct.asp?description=11-127-011&depa=1...

AntecRep, thanks for answering some of our questions. But I bet you could save a lot of typing if you put up some good pics 8)

It never ceases to amaze me the tiny pics that big manufacturers put on their web sites. :x

All you need from Jim is to make sure the grills are cut out. That's really the only thing he can do to make it quieter for you. For the rest of making it quieter, you'll have to do it on your own. And here is how:

The Global WIN YCC-61F1 meets all of your needs.

This post covers all mid tower cases with 120mm fans.

A computer will run just fine with negative pressure. It's not a very big deal at all. But optimally, positive pressure controls the dust better, cools hard drives better, and helps quiet PSU's instead of fighting them.

Re: Front case fans really necessary?

Also, a word on negaitive pressure.....it seems to me that if you seal up any extraneous openings in the back and front, air would naturally create a healthy flow from the front when a fan is placed in the rear for exhaust. Where else can the air come from if you seal off all holes except the holes...

Correct, put the stronger ones up front. If all fans are the same brand/model, then use a rheostat or voltage reduction on the rear fan(s). Click on my signature to see an example. I also can't stress enough what an improvement it is to use modder's mesh on the front. It doesn't seem to sink in to p...

You bring up a good point. Front fans provide another advantage in cooling hard drives. They will cause the great majority of incoming cool air to flow in from one location. You can use this to cool the drives.

They are not necessary, but certainly preferred in order to maintain positive air pressure. Positive air pressure is important with the lastest quiet PSU's. These quiet PSU's generally do not move much air, and negative air pressure can cause the airflow to come to a halt. For example, on the opposi...

I know yours are 80mm, but I just want to say that I've had some poor success with 120mm L1A's from directron. They were unbalanced as well. My take on it: Panaflo's assembly line quality is poor and you can sometimes get some bad ones. On the opposite end of the scale is Papst. To me, these have al...

The SLK900U is a monster. It almost doesn't need a fan :) You could use the 80mm if you want. However, I highly suggest a 92mm #1. Inside the case, you won't hear a undervolted 92mm fan. #2. It will move more air, keeping things cooler which means better stability. #3. The extra size of the 92mm han...

The SLK900U is an outstanding heatsink. Best you can get for the weight ratio, in my opinion.
But, you would be better off with a 92mm fan.
