Devonavar , I think you bring up some good points. Ones that have possibly been touched on here, but certainly not at such length. This could be an interesting experiment. To throw in my experience on this subject.....I once had to make a study where we were testing if people could respond to any s...

Mine is still in fine shape, ive had it for 6 months and its been on 24/7 for about 5 months with short breaks for tweaking. You may encounter problems if you only use distilled water without any additive though. Use Propylene Glycol or something meant for PC watercooling. Yesterday i moved the pum...

The GPU-cooler om the resirator supposedly is very weak, maybe the extra cooling on the core itself helped? I think the problem was with the memory. I tried Doom3 with it without the fan, and I had severe artifacts (dancing white pixels) that went away with the fan. That kind of artifacting seems l...

It is 14dba measured in the adjecent room. My old papst 120mm ran at 1600rpm max, at which speed the noise was unacceptable. This silenx fan at 1800 RPM no matter how good, (and it apparantly is not) would make more sound than unacceptable, which is more likely to be 34dba than 14. Note: 'customers...

Re: What the hell!

Look at the sats for this fan is that possible? http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_2530.html yes, it is possible for fan manufactures to fudge specification numbers they list. In fact, I would say 90% of all fans out there have fudged specs. Yeah, but are theese particular specs wrong? AtW

I think the gpu works so well because it follows the number one principal in water cooling, rate of flow through the heatsink. always the most important factor, and this gpu cooler is a straight smooth hole from one end to the other. That dosn't make sense too me, water can hold a lot of energy, ev...

I wish I could say the same for a Reserator - Dead silent for 6 weeks then slowly became noisier - but still working . It is on a server so Quiet is tolerable , but silent would be better. I could not see myself replacing the Reserator with A rocket though! Please note that this thing has run 24/7 ...

I ran totally fanless for a few months, using a reserator. I had some problems with the system hanging about every two to three weeks (it was on constantly). Also, you couldn't play 3d games, because something on the video card would overheat (probably the memory, even though they had huge heatsink...

...but I'm still missing something from those recordings So lossless isn't really lossless? To answer the question, lossless, is lossless, but sometimes reading a cd is not lossless, a cd-reader has an offset for example, which can be around a millisecond, which you loose (unless the cd-drive can r...

In a nutshell, of the >half-dozen hdd silencing devices we've been sent samples of, there are only 3 I would consider: NoVibes, SmartDrive & Silentbox. The rest... we're not reviewing the ones we have; not worth our time. This includes most aluminum box/plates + grommets type devices. Which is just...

not all ripping methods are created equal, it's good that you've heard of eac :) this thread and included links would be a good introduction to why eac (or plextools, should it support your drive) is a better choice, and why just limiting drive reading speed can potentially make no difference at al...

my mistake, i misread your post. still, the engineering that'd go into both designing and processing spatial location with a dual-mic setup to equal our ears is beyond us, imho, especially when you consider multiple noise sources. Maybe, unfortantly I don't know enough to say anything certain about...

the only information i have regarding spatial location is a comparison made by a military radar specialist who found that his attempts at localizing weren't working nearly as well as his own ears during blind tests. i wasn't particularly impressed with his methods, but it's the only test i could fi...

(2) Humans' insensitivity to frequency swings is well known (although, like Green Shoes , I find the 10db claim rather extreme). That is because human ears are far more attuned to spatial and phase info. than freq. magnitude. Think of it this way, if you were a cave-dweller (big stretch, I know) an...

I have run a Zero fan system ! It is a BAD idea . some ventilation is necessary or component life is shortened . I found that a 5v 80mm fan in the rear to exhaust the hot stale air is sufficient but your CPU power circuitry is designed to have airflow . As are many other components - unless you hav...

NB is subjective. nforce2? yes needs more than passive cooling. 865? no. nforce4? yes. And are you OCing? Undervolting? 875s can be overvolted when OCing and they get very hot. Same with nf4s. Dunno about underclocking though. Aren't there several nforce-chipsets with passivly cooled NBs as stock? ...

Nice product but I don't see what the major difference is vs the SmartDrive2002C. One thing I did note was the back connectors are less sound proofed than the SmartDrive's (The smart drive encloses even that with a lined rubberlike lip, and ideally you use a flat ide cable so that the lip envelopes...

This is not true and here is why: First, even the most bits-are-bits among us here (most of them, anyway) agree that jitter is the major problem in digital playback (presumably because they can measure it). Thus clock integrity is similarly an important consideration. The clock is generated by a cr...

Seems like an interesting product, a silenecer which both adresses vibration and idle noise. The review seems to indicate that i gets pretty hot though (close to 50 C)

The ones that would certainly need direct cooling are: CPU GPU HDD PSU NB SB (if you have one) VRM MOFSETS And with no airflow through the case, who knows what other chips would fry? RAM? It seems like a very interesting case, The one thing I would like to know if having the HD in the designated space at the bottom is more quiet than having it enclosed in a 5.25 space.

Yeah, but wouldn't it be more effevtive (and cheaper) if both the panel layers where steel?

The UK usually pays more for Antec cases, so I expect the street price to be about $150.00. Not only is it made from aluminum, it is made using a “sandwich” aluminum with an noise quieting insulation layer in between the aluminum layers (IIRC). Why do they use alumnium anyway? An expensive and ligh...
