Decided to go with the Lian-Li (maybe ) - although it now appears to be out of stock.. . Anyone suggest a suitable 120mm quiet fan for the exhaust? Last time I looked was a couple of years ago, and slipstream fans were recommended. I don't know anything about the stock fans. Also, any suggesti...

Any system that will have multiple 3.5" HDDs is not a great candidate for picoPSU -- there's a lot of surge current at turn-on. You're generally better off with a high efficiency ATX or STF psu -- perhaps one of the Dell 250-300W models, modded to fit whatever case... How much surge are we talking?...

Re: dunno

WS green drives have several parameters that affect noise and performance. For me, the most critical was head parking AKA Load_Cycle. Other parameters that are relevant are standby and acoustic management. HTH I take it then I can disable LLC - stick it in my NAS and the drives will be able to go i...

Mini-ITX NAS build

I have decided to build a Intel Atom Mini-ITX NAS build. Although most of the topics are out of date on performance of a D510/Gigabit NAS. I have a few questions regarding the components. Quiet and low power are my aims. It is initially going to use 2 x 2 TB 3.5" WDEARS HDDs but I would like to expa...

Anyone know if a Accelero S1 (Rev 2) fits a 5750? I have one at the moment on my 3870 but I would like to upgrade (need 3 monitors, infrequent PC gamer as well).

The Club 3D/PowerColor ones seem to have an S1 but I don't have know if it's been modified. They are not available in the UK still.

Thanks for the two reviews. I am really looking for information on which is simply the quietest of the drives - there are some specs (DBA) but I don't know in this review if that is manufacturer specced or not. According to that site, the WD is quieter by 2 DB - but how that fares in the real world ...

Does the review say? The google translator says the F3 is "calm" but the WD20EADS is "for a silent machine most li...

Well if the stock cooler doesn't have any heatsinks on the VRM then I would assume it would just be the same If I replace the stock cooler with a S1 and stick a low volt fan on it?

Except it would be much quieter and cooler. Please correct me if I am wrong!!

Damn. Maybe adding a slipstream at 5v would be less hassle than adding heatsinks to the VRMs instead of a passive solution

Does the 4850 not come with pre-applied VRM/RAM heatsinks? I'm thinking of upgrading from a 3870 with S1 to a 4850 with S1. Could I just take the cooler off the 3870, slap on some MX-2 and be done with it?

Planning on running passively. I didn't bother to replace the 3870's VRM heatsinks.

I generally go with eBuyer or scan (through avforums discount) because I can get free shipping and the prices are usually lower than OcUK.

There is always the odd part however. I had to get my TRUE from OcUK as they were the only ones with stock at the time.
